Book of the Month:
“A Chance in the World” – Steve Pemberton

From foster care to leadership, Steve Pemberton’s story is one of resilience, faith, and the relentless search for belonging. His journey reminds us that hope can grow in even the hardest places. 💙

For CASA volunteers, A Chance in the World captures why we do what we do — helping every child believe they are worth the chance to be seen, supported, and loved.

📚 June is PTSD Awareness Month. Let’s keep being that steady light for children climbing their way toward healing.

Book of the Month:
“Mom’s House, Dad’s House” – Dr. Isolina Ricci

Separation and change are never easy — especially for children caught in the middle.
This classic guide offers practical, hopeful strategies for helping families navigate co-parenting, transitions, and rebuilding stability after separation. 💛

For CASA volunteers, it’s a reminder that family looks different for everyone — and that advocacy for healthy communication can help children feel safe in both homes.

📖 May is International Family Equality Month — a perfect time to celebrate families built on love, resilience, and growth.

Yesterday was a morning full of budgeting, decision-making, and a few “wait… groceries cost HOW much?!” moments. 😅

Thank you to everyone who helped make Reality Check 2026 possible — our volunteers, community partners, and organizations who gave these students a hands-on look at real-world finances and adult responsibilities. We love watching these kids learn, laugh, and grow through this experience every year. 💙

It’s a day to recognize the children, families, and individuals navigating the foster care system—often with more strength than most of us will ever fully see.

Behind every case is a child who has experienced change, uncertainty, and moments they didn’t choose.

And while foster care provides safety, what children need most doesn’t fit neatly into a system:

They need stability.
They need a connection.
They need someone who shows up and stays.

That’s where CASA comes in.

CASA volunteers stand beside children during one of the most difficult times in their lives—
advocating for their best interests and making sure their voice is heard.

Today, we honor:
💙 The children in foster care
💙 The foster families who open their homes
💙 The volunteers who show up again and again

And we remember—there is still more to be done.

👉 If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, today is a good day to start the conversation.

Book of the Month:
“What My Bones Know” – Stephanie Foo

“What My Bones Know” is a raw and beautifully written memoir about living with complex trauma and the long road toward healing. 💚

Stephanie Foo’s honesty reminds us that recovery isn’t linear — it’s brave, messy, and deeply human.
As CASA volunteers, we walk alongside children and families in those same spaces of uncertainty and hope, offering advocacy, stability, and compassion when it’s needed most.

📚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Let’s keep learning, listening, and leading with empathy — because healing begins with being heard.
