The Inclusion Connection: Charting a Vision for a Good Life!

At Morgan DD, we believe with all our hearts that every single person has the right to live, love, work, play, and pursue their biggest dreams in our community. That’s why we are so excited to share a wonderful tool designed to help families do just that!

It’s called Charting the LifeCourse, a framework created to help families maximize their unique strengths and abilities so they can support their loved ones in achieving their goals.

Whether you are navigating the early toddler years, school age, or adulthood, these principles are designed for any stage of life. The LifeCourse framework helps individuals and families: 🌟 Develop a clear vision for what a "good life" looks like. 🧠 Think about what they need to know and do to reach that vision. 🀝 Identify how to find or build supports along the way. 🌱 Discover exactly what it takes to live the life they truly want to live!

We want to give a huge shout-out and credit to our friends at the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities for supporting LifeCourse Ambassadors across the state who bring these vital tools, principles, and training sessions to families, schools, and community businesses.

Want to learn more? If you’d like to explore how to use the Charting the LifeCourse tools for your own family, we are always here to help connect you! Give our Morgan DD office a call at πŸ“ž 740-962-4200. Let's build that good life together! πŸ§‘πŸ™Œ

Meet the Board: Katelynn Blackburn

Serving on the Morgan County Board of Developmental Disabilities for the past 7 years, Katelynn brings a deep personal passion and dedication to her role. Her commitment to advocacy comes straight from the heart, as she navigates life as a mom to her son, Cody, and serves as the proud guardian of her uncle, Christopher. Backed by her husband of 14 years, Zach, and her two supportive daughters, Katelynn's lived experience is an invaluable asset to our mission.

When she isn't helping guide our board, Katelynn works as a property manager at an apartment complex in Carroll, Ohioβ€”a role she loves because it allows her to do what she does best: work with people.

Katelynn's dedication to the public spans all age groups, and you might recognize her around the community from her time teaching fitness classes at The Barracks in McConnelsville, assistant coaching tumbling classes at Centerstage Dance Studio alongside Ericka McDaniel, or coaching local volleyball, softball, and T-ball teams.

Always ready to help, Katelynn will be launching a new Differently Abled Kids Parents Group this July (and yes, kids are absolutely welcome to attend!). Keep an eye on our page for the upcoming date and flyer.

Katelynn is a wonderful example of how dedicated local leaders help ensure that in Morgan County, Inclusion is Freedom. Thank you for all you do and for your 7 years of service, Katelynn! πŸ§‘πŸ™Œ
