Many people don't realize the Fulton County Historical Society was involved with the Frontier Barn Quilt Trail beginnings. Just like the cloth quilts that we know contain stories of the past, so, too, do the barn quilt blocks. This lovely quilt block is located at 15856 Great Cove Road, McConnellsburg, PA. The quilt story is:

"History tells us that the Spaniards brought them to the New World where they became a necessary inventory to every household. The old house and store in Webster Mills was built in the early 1800’s as a General Store. The store was raided by Confederate soldiers in 1863 but the boys had already taken the horses to the woods for hiding. Horses in the meadow now have no fear of capture."

For more information on the barn quilt trail, visit www.frontierbarnquilttrail.com or stop by the museum for the book showing all the quilt blocks or a map showing all their locations. Finding them is a great road trip through the county!
