Spotted Lanternflies are in full swing, but they’re no match for a shoe!

These invasive insects have a big appetite for Pennsylvania’s plants. They have a strong preference for economically important plants including grapevines, maple trees, black walnut, birch, willow, and other trees. The feeding damage significantly stresses the plants which can lead to decreased health and potentially death.

Help in the fight against the and remember that if you see them, squash them!

Take that water bottle with you when you go on your walks!

For an invasive pest, the spotted lanternfly is a beautifully colorful insect. But don’t be fooled—this planthopper can be destructive. Officials want you to squash them on sight, but these tricksters can be difficult to flatten because they naturally leap away from predators when threatened.
