St. Andrew’s Mission’s Southwest Mississippi Recovery Network continues coordinating tornado relief efforts for families impacted by recent storms throughout our region.
Volunteers are currently needed to assist with sorting donations, organizing supplies, loading items, and assisting tornado victims at The Mill location. Volunteer shifts continue weekdays from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM beginning Wednesday, May 13th.
Survivor pickup assistance will begin Monday, May 18th (1p - 5p) and continue Tuesday, May 19th (9a - 12p) and Friday, May 22nd (1p - 5p), with additional dates and times to be announced as recovery efforts continue.
Suggested donation items include:
• Bottled water
• Non-perishable food items
• Cleaning supplies
• Bleach and disinfectants
• Trash bags
• Paper towels and toilet paper
• Hygiene products
• Diapers and baby wipes
• Laundry detergent
• Clothing for all ages and sizes
• Shoes for children and adults
• Blankets and pillows
• Kids toys, games, and comfort items
• Pet food and pet supplies
• Work gloves
• Flashlights and batteries
• Storage totes and bins
Cash donations may also be made at any First Bank branch to the “St. Andrew’s Mission, Inc. Southwest Mississippi Recovery Network” account.
Please note: absolutely NO cash donations will be distributed directly to survivors. Monetary donations will be used to purchase supplies, goods, and services for impacted families, including assistance with disaster-related needs such as insurance deductibles, temporary housing deposits, utility deposits, and other recovery-related expenses.
St. Andrew’s Mission is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and donations may be tax deductible as allowed by law.
