South Sound Bird Dog Club is putting on an NSTRA Amateur Trial - Registration is now OPEN! *** Must be a NSTRA Member and you dog MUST Be registered in NSTRA. NSTRA is giving a free membership until June 1, 2026.

Please contact me (if you have not) to enter the amateur trial for NSTRA, please do so now.

Location: Davis Creek Oakville, WA
Davis Creek (frequently referred to as the Koopman Farm Wildlife Area) is a 2,000-acre tract located at 2009 South Bank Road, Oakville, WA.

NSTRA Amateur Trial : June 13 & 14, 2026
Registration opens on the 1st of May.
Cost: $50.00 brace/per dog
We will be running 2 fields per day and you can run in both fields for 2 braces.
Quail will be used
Horseback judging
Start Time: 7:30 AM

Note: There will be Professional Dog Trainers, Champion Dog Handlers and Mentors on sight Friday, Saturday and Sunday to support you while you run your events and/or answer any questions regarding NSTRA.

Nutrition: Friday night will be a potluck dinner (please bring something yummy to share)
Saturday - Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided for a fee/donation.
Sunday - Breakfast, lunch is provided for a fee/donation
***Melayne will be there and will have desserts 🙂 Sandi Martin will be cooking and providing meals.

Activities: Saturday night dinner, awards, and auction
Auction items are accepted and appreciated. If you have something to share and donate to the South Sound Bird Dog Club, thank you it is very much appreciated in helping this newly developed club continue dog and handler education, supporting other clubs and developing great pointing dogs!

Camping is allowed on the grounds (no open fires). Please feel free to come early and train your dog.

Saturday’s Bird O Rama
Food was amazing
Bird work was on point :-)
Lots of people joined the first day and the weather was perfect for running dogs.

Interested in learning about NSTRA? There is a judging clinic at Mike Smiths this Saturday (Mar h 1st) at 0930. This is a great opportunity to learn the game of NSTRA without any commitment, you do not have to be a member or want to be a judge to attend.

The training day has been canceled due to sickness (several went to a trial this weekend and came back with flu like symptoms) and poor weather forecast.

Our next training day is scheduled for March 22nd at Mike Smiths house.
