Today was one of those days that reminds us just how wonderful our community is!

Mr. Nunz brought his class from Mountain Community School to Toby’s Place with a wonderfully creative idea. His students are studying medieval times and building a castle, so they wanted to barter with Toby’s Place for furniture and décor to help bring their castle to life.

In exchange, the students are helping us process donations! They arrived in a big bus, filled it with boxes of donations, and took them back to the classroom, where each student will help sort and process them.

How awesome is that?

This is hands-on learning, community service, creativity, and partnership all rolled into one. The students are helping Toby’s Place in a meaningful way while seeing firsthand that their work matters—and they’re bringing their classroom lessons to life at the same time.

We are so grateful to Mr. Nunz, all of his students, and Mountain Community School for understanding the value of community partnerships and for thinking big when it comes to teaching kids. Thank you for sharing your time, energy, and imagination with Toby’s Place.

This is community at its very best, and we can’t wait to see the castle!

To everyone who said, “Yes, I’ll pick up food from the food bank and deliver it to the Toby’s Place home for adults with developmental disabilities”—thank you.

Our hearts are absolutely bursting. So many of you offered to help that we should be able to create a rotating schedule, making it easier on everyone.

Deliveries will begin the first Wednesday in October. We are working out the details with the food bank and will contact each of you within the next few days.

We will also have opportunities to cook dinner for our residents at the house. We’ll provide the food and everything you need. Let us know if you’d like to learn more.

We are so grateful for this caring community.

We’re looking for a dependable volunteer to pick up food from the McCall Food Bank each Wednesday and deliver it to a Toby’s Place residential home in McCall for adults with developmental disabilities.

This simple act of kindness would be an absolute blessing. If you’re interested, please leave a message below, and we’ll be in touch.

Toby’s Place Upcycled Fall Craft Ideas

A little imagination can turn someone else’s castoffs into your favorite fall decorations—and it all starts at the Toby’s Place Thrift Store and Reclaim Store.

Here are a few fun ideas:

1. Turn old jeans into denim pumpkins.
2. Transform a Bundt pan into a pumpkin.
3. Create autumn lanterns with glass jars, pressed leaves, and battery-operated tea lights.
4. Use an old picture frame to display pressed fall leaves.

Stop by, see what treasures you can find, and let your creativity take over. You’ll save money, reuse something perfectly good, and support Toby’s Place programs at the same time.

Which one will you make?
