Weather Preparedness Update (graphic) from the National Weather Service:

In preparations for possible heavy rainfall and localized flooding, the City will provide sandbags tomorrow at 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Westside Park, 1000 S. Ware Rd.

Residents will need to fill their own bags. The City will provide sand, bags, and shovels.

The greatest threat from this tropical weather pattern is street flooding and pockets of flash flooding. While severe weather is not expected, residents should remain weather aware as a Flood Watch remains in effect through Wednesday at 7 a.m.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions and prepare ahead of the rain.

As a working mom, I know what it’s like to walk into H-E-B to buy dinner for your kids. A hot rotisserie chicken can feed four people for under ten dollars. Yesterday I voted to let working parents on nutrition programs buy them too. Every family deserves a hot meal at the end of a long day.

The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley is warning people about fake food giveaway posts on social media.

The food bank says it's getting about 30 calls a day from people confused by misleading posts advertising old or nonexistent food distributions. Learn how to spot the misleading posts in the comments below:
