Following our HOPE Kit event this week, McHC had the opportunity to extend our efforts into the community by delivering our self-care kits to DHR Health’s Renaissance Cancer Foundation. These kits will be distributed to women facing breast cancer, each carrying thoughtful items and messages of encouragement to remind them that they are not alone in their journey.

It is our hope that these small gestures bring a little comfort, encouragement, and perhaps even a smile during a challenging time. We are grateful to our staff for coming together to make this initiative possible and to DHR Health and the Renaissance Cancer Foundation for allowing us to participate in this meaningful effort.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are reminded that compassion and community support can make a difference, one small act of kindness at a time. 🌟💗

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, McHC had the opportunity to host a special event dedicated to spreading kindness, encouragement, and hope to women affected by breast cancer.

Our staff came together to create HOPE Kits, self-care kits, filled with thoughtful items and heartfelt messages of encouragement for women navigating their cancer journey. Each kit was prepared with care and included an encouragement card as a small reminder that they are supported and not alone.

We are grateful to our staff for their generosity, participation, and willingness to make a difference beyond the workplace. This October, we reflect on the individuals and families impacted by breast cancer and honor the strength, resilience, and courage of those facing this journey.

At McHC, we believe that even the smallest acts of kindness can bring comfort and brighten someone’s day. We hope these HOPE Kits serve as a reminder that hope, compassion, and community can make a meaningful difference. 💕🎗

Meet Our Executive Director: Mr. Rodolfo “Rudy” Ramirez!

This National Boss’s Day, McAllen Housing Commision would like to recognize our Executive Director, Mr. Rodolfo “Rudy” Ramirez, who has been part of the McHC team since 2020.

Since joining McHC, Mr. Ramirez has helped foster an environment centered on teamwork, growth, and serving our community. His leadership helps guide our organization’s mission to provide meaningful housing opportunities and make a positive impact on the lives of the families we serve.

Today, we celebrate his leadership, dedication, and continued commitment to McHC, our staff, and the McAllen community. Thank you, Mr. Ramirez, for helping our team grow and for leading us in the work we do every day!

Join us for the 6th Annual Robert “Bobby” Calvillo Home Is Where the Heart Is 5K Run/Walk on February 27, 2027, at Firemen’s Park in McAllen, Texas!

Since 2022, the McAllen Housing Commission, in partnership with Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI), has raised a total of $102,500 in scholarships through our annual 5K fundraiser, helping McAllen Housing Commission residents pursue their educational goals and build brighter futures.

In 2026 alone, our fundraising efforts helped provide $25,000 in scholarships to 19 graduating high school seniors!

These graduates represent the impact our community can make when we come together for a common purpose.

And we're getting ready to do it again!
