🌿✨ Calling All Girl Scouts, Parents, and Nature Lovers! ✨🌿

I’m so excited to share the final results of my Gold Award Project: Restoring Beauty, One Feather at a Time! 🕊️💚
Over the past few months, I’ve been working hard to restore bird habitat at Eagle Pond in Bentsen State Park and inspire others to create bird-friendly backyards here in the Rio Grande Valley—one of the top birding regions in the world! 🐦🌎
To spread awareness, I’ve created a YouTube channel full of DIY bird feeder videos, expert interviews, and event highlights, as well as a website with photos, resources, and information about bird conservation.

🌿✨ Bentsen Eagle Pond Restoration – Girl Scout Gold Award Project, Part 1! ✨🌿

We're thrilled to share a huge milestone in Gabriela Alvarez’s Girl Scout Gold Award journey!

Start your morning with the birds and support Gabriela Alvarez and achieving her Gold Award!

Join local birding pros for a fun and informative session on South Texas’ native feathered friends. Learn fascinating facts, understand the challenges birds face, how to use eBird and iNaturalist apps, and discover simple ways to turn your own backyard into a haven for wildlife.
It’s part nature chat, part hands-on how-to—and totally worth waking up early for!

🌿 You're Invited: Help Restore Eagle Pond! 🌿

Dear Girl Scouts and Families,

We’re excited to invite all Girl Scouts to a special community service event at Bentsen Park in Mission, Texas, to help restore Eagle Pond — an important habitat for local birds and wildlife. Join us as we work together to provide food, shelter, and clean water for our feathered friends.

🗓️ Date: Friday, June 14
🕗 Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Location: Benton Park, Mission, TX

This is a great opportunity for Girl Scouts to earn service hours, make a difference in their community, and enjoy a fun, hands-on outdoor activity!
What to Bring:

• Gloves
• Sunblock
• Mosquito repellent
• Long socks
• Long pants and long-sleeved shirt
• Sturdy closed-toe shoes
• Reusable water bottle

What We’ll Provide:
• Tools and supplies for the restoration project
• Cold water and snacks
• A short environmental talk about why Eagle Pond matters
