When Training Meets Urgency: CREOKS Team Members Help Save a Life

An unsheltered man came rushing toward CREOKS, urgently calling out, “He’s dead! He’s dead!”

For Bobby Gloss, his training immediately kicked in. His first thought was Narcan.

Narcan (naloxone) is a medication that can rapidly reverse an opioid overdose, helping restore breathing and giving a person a chance to survive. Knowing that every second mattered, Bobby immediately ran inside the CREOKS Admiral location to grab a dose.

Without hesitation, he rushed to the man, who was under the bridge near Admiral. Bobby called 911 and used his training to administer the Narcan.
After the second dose, Bobby noticed movement in the man’s eyes—a small but hopeful sign.
Realizing he needed more Narcan, Bobby jumped on a bike and rushed back to the CREOKS Admiral location to get another lifesaving dose. After the third dose was administered, the man began to wake up, dazed but responsive.

Dan Ziriax quickly arrived with another dose of Narcan, ready to help if needed. Together, Bobby and Dan stayed with the man and helped him into the ambulance when emergency responders arrived.

Bobby’s quick thinking, training and immediate action helped give a young man another chance at life. This is a powerful reminder that knowing how to respond to an overdose—and having access to Narcan—can make all the difference when every second counts.

Pause for Paws: Restoring Hope and Healing

Imagine facing a health crisis and having to choose between keeping your beloved pet and receiving the medical, mental health, or addiction treatment you desperately need.

Pause4Paws was created to make sure no one has to make that choice. But we need your help to continue this mission.

Without foster families, their mission stops.

As a short-term pet foster, you provide a safe, loving place for a pet while their owner receives the care they need. Even 5–30 days of temporary foster care can make the difference between someone going without treatment and getting the help they desperately need.

Pause4Paws provides everything you need—including food, supplies, and veterinary care. You provide a safe space, a little love, and peace of mind for someone facing a difficult time.

Open your home. Protect a pet. Give someone hope.
