LAMENTO INMIGRANTE - (Scroll down for English)
Al entrar a la sala de visitas mi corazón se estremeció como cuando es sacudido por una experiencia muy fuerte. Se comenzaron a escuchar los sollozos, niños corrían a los brazos de sus papás. Cuando observé con mayor detenimiento miré una niña que abrazaba a su padre de una manera tan fuerte que parecía que nunca le quería soltar, en otro lado una esposa y su esposo llorando abrazados fuertemente. Estas y otras más fueron las escenas en el Centro de Detenciones donde hay más de 1600 inmigrantes detenidos por ICE. Las lágrimas que se observan cuando comienzan las visitas y el dolor que se perciben en el momento de la despedida es desgarrador. Miles de familias han sido afectadas por esta ola detenciones de inmigrantes que ha golpeado el corazón de lo más preciado por Dios: la familia. Nos sentimos sin fuerza y agotados por la lucha que hemos llevado a cabo, la cual es gigantesca y parece que no tiene solución. Sin embargo, tenemos dos recursos poderosos, la oración y la abogacía. El primero toca el corazón de Dios y el segundo puede tocar el corazón de los congresistas.
Sigamos orando por esta situación, no queremos ver más familias separadas, no queremos ver más niños llorar por sus padres que ya no regresan a casa cuando salen a trabajar. No queremos ver más temor en los ojos de nuestra comunidad inmigrante. Oramos para ver un milagro de parte de Dios tocando el corazón de los gobernantes por una reforma migratoria integral.
Damos gracias a Dios por el grupo de pastores y líderes que nos acompañaron ayer a visitar a inmigrantes que no reciben visita de sus familiares por no tener documentos. Oramos por ellos y les dijimos que confíen en Dios, que se acerquen a él porque Dios es el Dios de pobre, de la viuda y del inmigrante.
El hace justicia al huérfano y a la viuda, y muestra su amor al extranjero dándole pan y vestido.

Upon entering the visitation room, my heart trembled as it does when shaken by a very powerful experience. Sobs began to be heard, and children ran into their fathers' arms. As I looked more closely, I saw a little girl hugging her father so tightly that it seemed she never wanted to let him go. Elsewhere, a wife and her husband were crying while holding each other tightly. These and many other scenes unfolded at the Detention Center, where more than 1,600 immigrants are being detained by ICE. The tears that are seen when visits begin and the pain that is felt at the moment of farewell are heartbreaking. Thousands of families have been affected by this wave of immigrant detentions that has struck at the heart of what is most precious to God: the family. We feel drained of strength and exhausted by the struggle we have undertaken, a struggle that is enormous and seems to have no solution. However, we have two powerful resources: prayer and advocacy. The first touches God's heart, and the second can touch the hearts of members of Congress.
Let us continue praying for this situation. We do not want to see any more families separated. We do not want to see more children crying for their parents who never return home after leaving for work. We do not want to see more fear in the eyes of our immigrant community. We pray to witness a miracle from God, touching the hearts of those in government so that comprehensive immigration reform may come about.
We thank God for the group of pastors and leaders who accompanied us yesterday to visit immigrants who receive no visits from their relatives because they do not have legal documents. We prayed for them and told them to trust in God, to draw near to Him, because God is the God of the poor, the widow, and the immigrant.
"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing."
