More info at: https://www.hamiltonatlnj.gov/boards/hamilton-sustainabiliteam Sustainability is something that improves "the quality of human life while living within the carrying capacity of supporting eco-systems". We are excited that The Township of Hamilton has joined Sustainable Jersey, and our SustainabiliTEAM is now a BRONZE Certified Municipality through Sustainable Jersey. (See more at: ht

tp://www.sustainablejersey.com) The certification with Sustainable Jersey that we are working towards is a prestigious designation for municipal governments in New Jersey. Municipalities that achieve the certification are considered by their peers, by the state government, and by the experts and civic organizations in New Jersey, to be among the leading municipalities. The certification is a rigorous and meaningful designation. All actions taken by municipalities to score points toward certification must be accompanied by documentary evidence and is reviewed. We are excited to be a part of this group, and look forward to working with other volunteers in our community to become certified! Our Township has made great strides in becoming more sustainable already. Please join us, and make a difference in our community by helping to make the Township of Hamilton even more sustainable!

๐ŸŒŸ AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT ๐ŸŒŸ

Meet Jacob DeRose ๐Ÿ‘‹ He is the Watershed Ambassador for Watershed Management Area 15, serving the Great Egg Harbor Watersheds. Jacob is hosted by the ACUA - Atlantic County Utilities Authority ๐Ÿ’ง

๐Ÿ’ฌ What does being a Watershed Ambassador & AmeriCorps member mean to Jacob?
"Being a Watershed Ambassador means being able to connect with both your local area and New Jersey as a whole. I've been able to learn so much about my local environment and make a difference within places I've grown up near my whole life. I've also been able to see so many new places within New Jersey and make new friends with people from all across the state.
Being an AmeriCorps member means being responsible to help make a difference whenever you can. I am grateful for being able to help in times of need, such as assisting with CFBNJ to give out food."

๐ŸŒฑ Biggest achievement so far?
"Having someone attend a community cleanup through a flyer I created and want to be involved in more future events. I'm very happy to help encourage others to help make their local environment a better place."

โญ Favorite memory?
โ€œSeeing the Statue of Liberty for the first time at Liberty State Park.โ€

๐ŸŒธ Whatโ€™s Jacob most excited for?
"Doing more partner projects. I am excited to meet more people and be outside with my local community."

๐Ÿ’ก Why did Jacob apply to NJWAP?
"To gain experience in the environmental service and make connections with people in several different fields."
