✨ WonderLab 2026: A Whirlwind of STEM-tastic Discovery!
Our very first WonderLab was an absolute blast, bringing together 28 bright and curious participants for a hands‑on adventure across four engineering disciplines. The room buzzed with creativity, collaboration, and the occasional excited “Whoa!” as students built, tested, tinkered, and explored like true engineers. The activities were led out by our student leads; Victoria Gomez, Rebecca Obeng, Drishti Patel, Clara Scopelliti, and Julia Zhang
⚡ Electrical Engineering: Sparks of Inspiration;
Participants dove into the fundamentals of electronics with one of the quickest, quirkiest ways to light up learning—paper circuits. With LEDs, copper tape, and batteries, they crafted glowing creations that made circuitry feel like magic.
⚙️ Mechanical Engineering: Gears in Motion;
The mechanical station turned into a playground of motion as students explored gears of all shapes and sizes, discovering how gear ratios change speed and force. They also crafted their own kaleidoscopes, experimenting with light, symmetry, and reflection—proof that engineering and art make a dazzling pair.
🏗️ Civil Engineering: Structures That Wow;
The civil corner was all about design, strength, and a little friendly competition. Students built wind‑powered cars using cardboard, straws, bottle caps, and a fan—learning firsthand how mass, friction, and force shape motion. Then came the mighty popsicle‑stick bridges, where triangles reigned supreme. With only glue and sticks, participants engineered bridges to see which design could hold the most weight. Spoiler: triangles never disappoint.
🧪 Chemical Engineering: Reactions That Pop (and Fizz!);
Chemistry came alive with invisible‑ink greeting cards, where acids, bases, and chemical reactions revealed secret messages using baking soda, turmeric, and hand sanitizer. The grand finale? DIY bath bombs—a fizzy fusion of citric acid and cornstarch that showed how mixing an acid and a base can create a gas…and a whole lot of excitement.

From glowing circuits to fizzing bath bombs, spinning motors to sturdy bridges, WonderLab delivered a joyful, hands‑on celebration of STEM exploration. Our participants didn’t just learn about engineering—they lived it, one experiment at a time.
