Maynard Cultural District

Maynard Cultural District Maynard offers a unique cultural experience. Events planned and circulated by the District help to increase spending and the flow of dollars in the Town.

With a diverse citizenry whose languages and traditions strengthen our cultural foundation, the result is a classic New England town with a host of art galleries, ethnic eateries, and entertainment venues. The Maynard Cultural District is a geographical area in Downtown Maynard designated by the state as such for its extensive cultural offerings. A group of people who are stakeholders in the Town'

s cultural community, Town use money granted by the state to the District to plan, implement and/or sponsor art and cultural events in the Town. Although Boston Magazine called Maynard the “Harvard Square of Metro West,” Downtown Maynard is uniquely worthy of a place among the Commonwealth’s honored Cultural Districts. According to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Districts "drive economic growth, strengthen distinctive local character and improve the quality of families across the Massachusetts. By supporting arts, humanities, and science organizations, Cultural Districts attract tourists and entrepreneurs, which in turn help communities foster their cultural sector and expand their tax base." Programs for arts and humanities in Massachusetts are funded by appropriations from the State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts. Maynard's Cultural Council and Cultural District receive funds from these sources.
