Two OARS—Watershed Organization for the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord rivers River Cleanups will be held in Maynard Saturday 9/21. At 9am at Ice House Landing to join Friends of Green Maynard Events Page or 9am at Assabet Co-op Market for a cleanup in that area. There’s work to do both on the shore and in the river so come by for as long or short as you are able.

Deadline for trash/recycling survey submissions is Friday Nov 3 @ noon. Please take a few minutes now to complete the survey (especially if you’re in a household that doesn’t generate large quantities of trash to make sure your needs are registered since there’s an industry push towards standardizing on giant trash bins).

Deborah Hledik (of the Maynard Litter League, Maynard Community Gardeners, Explore Pathways To Wellness and downtown island decorator extraordinaire) got a head start on this Saturday's Downtown Cleanup/Weeding event by tackling the Post Office earlier this week. She and her helpers removed w**d trees, pruned the hedges and picked up litter. It looks 100% better, don't you agree? You can help make a similar difference in other areas downtown. Saturday 9/17 9am-noon. Meet in parking lot by El Huipil Mexican Restaurant. Litter pick up supplies and yard waste bags will be provided. You should bring your own gardening gloves and tools if you wish to help with that part of the effort. Organized by Maynard Community Gardeners, Maynard Litter League and Green Maynard

OARS 36th Annual River Clean-up is September 16-18th! If you aren't keen on going into the river, you can always help out on shore. In Maynard, the area around Tobin Park (behind John's Cleaners, adjacent to the ARRT bridge over the Assabet) is always a good spot to check for litter.
