Thank you to the individuals and businesses that have donated money towards replacing the American Flags that accompany our Maynard Hometown Heroes banners. We are still hoping to raise more money to buy as many flags as we can. We would appreciate your consideration to donate. Thank you! 🇺🇸

Many of our American Flags have have been flying for 5 years for 6 months of each year with the Hometown Heroes banners. We needed to retire a lot of them this past year due to fading and damage. We are asking for your help to replace at least 75 of them. The 46 KIA banners and flags were our first ones up downtown. Those and many others are in need of replacing, as well as about 20 flag poles that have been broken. We now have over 130 total banners hanging throughout our town. Our goal is to raise $4000 or more to get as many flags as we can so they all are waving beautifully. There are towns around us that only hang the banner with no flag. We hope you feel the same way as we do, the American Flags really make the banners stand out honoring our veterans. To donate, please make your check out to: Town of Maynard, with Hometown Heroes fundraiser in the memo - send to: Town of Maynard, c/o Town Administrators Office, 195 Main Street, Maynard, MA 01754. If you have any questions, please contact [email protected]. Thank you for your consideration in supporting this project.

I was thinking of all our Maynard Hometown Heroes as we marched on this cold Veterans Day. It's always a pleasure to honor our veterans and let them know we won't forget their service. Today was a special ceremony as we honored 15 Gold Star Maynard families.

As you may have noticed, the banners and American flags on Powder Mill Road have been taken down early. The reason is Eversource will be removing the old telephone poles on which the banners were on. The new poles will have banners on them next spring. The remaining banners on Great Road and downtown will remain up until after Veterans Day.

Thinking of all our Maynard Hometown Heroes, especially the KIA’s, as we marched by their banners this morning in the Memorial Day parade. Remembering all those who gave the ultimate sacrifice , near and far. 🇺🇸

Our newest Hometown Heroes - Phase V - banners are now up on Powder Mill Road!! The KIA banners are up on Main Street, Summer Street and Nason Street. And a mix of phase 2-4 are up on Great Road and Powder Mill Road! Thank you to the Maynard DPW for getting them up once again for us all to see! 🇺🇸

This email was sent to all Phase 2 recipients in December. This is a reminder:
To all Phase 2 (2022) Maynard Hometown Heroes banner recipients:
Your banner has now been displayed for 3 years. We have reached our limit to how many poles we can use. We want others to have a chance to be recognized, so we are giving you the option to take your banner, or we can keep your banner and rotate it back in over the years to come (this is not a problem to do). Depending on how many new banners are ordered each year will determine how many older banners can be rotated in each year. (One exception is that any Phase 2 banners that were not put up until September, will be put up this year.)
If you could let us know your decision as soon as possible, it would be appreciated. You can email [email protected] with any questions.
