Once again, I’m coming to Facebook to clear up some misinformation regarding the Mayflower Area Chamber of Commerce.

It has been said that the Chamber is responsible for the fireworks and 4th of July Celebration. Since the current board and I were elected, the Chamber has never been responsible for planning or hosting the 4th of July event. We have donated water for the event and encouraged vendors to participate if they choose, but we have never been the organizing party.

Halloween is an event that we partnered with the Fire Department to host, and it has grown into a wonderful community event. Everything at this event is free to the public, and we encourage our members and local businesses to participate by setting up booths and handing out candy. In 2025, the City also participated by donating funds and paying for bounce houses.

As for the Christmas Parade, the Chamber has never been responsible for organizing that event. The parade has traditionally been hosted by the Outsiders. After they joined the Chamber as members, we gladly helped advertise the event and encouraged participation from businesses and community members. We even sponsor a Best Float award to help encourage involvement.

The Chamber of Commerce exists to build relationships among businesses, support economic growth, and foster opportunities that benefit our community. We are fortunate to have businesses that support our efforts and allow us to give back in many ways.

We are constantly planning events and looking for ways to increase community involvement. However, participation is key. At times, low participation has resulted in events being canceled, including the carnival, bingo, and circus.

We appreciate everyone’s opinions, but we would also love to see that same energy directed toward being part of the solution. Clarifying the Chamber’s role is important so that we are not unfairly labeled as responsible for events we do not organize.

We would love to do it all, but we are a volunteer board of seven people who all work full-time jobs. If you would like to get involved, volunteer, or help bring new ideas and events to our community, please feel free to call us or attend one of our meetings. We always welcome those who want to be part of making Mayflower even better.

What a great night of BINGO!

We had a fantastic turnout, lots of winners, plenty of laughs, and an all-around great time. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the event!

A huge thank you to Maly’s Entertainment for hosting us, and to all of our game sponsors for helping make the evening possible.

And a very special thank you to Kaleb for coming back and serving as our bingo caller once again, we appreciate you helping make the night a success!

We can’t wait to do it again. Thanks for making it such a fun evening!

FYI: I have had a couple of inquiries asking if you need to reserve tables for Bingo. There is plenty of seating and it’s first come first served. No table reservations are required or needed. When you arrive if you have pre paid for bingo Packets they will be at the entrance with the persons name who purchased the packet. See you all later and we appreciate the continued support! Let’s give away some 💰 💴

Several people have asked what the Chamber does with the money we raise from our Bingo events. The answer is simple: we invest it right back into our community. The Chamber is involved in many of the things that happen in Mayflower. When schools, teachers, booster clubs, community organizations, and local groups reach out for support, we do our best to help. Whether it's donations for school functions, teacher expos, awards banquets, community events, or other worthwhile causes, we believe in giving back to the town that supports us.

As many of you know, the Chamber recently had the flag poles and flags at Blue Star Park installed. Unfortunately, we lost two of those poles over the weekend and will now need to replace them. Projects like this are made possible through fundraising efforts such as Bingo.

The money we raise is important because it allows us to continue supporting community projects, partnering with local organizations, and helping make Mayflower a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has attended a Bingo night, supported our events, purchased memberships, sponsored activities, donated items, or volunteered their time. Simply put, without all of you, we would not have a Chamber.

We are thrilled to introduce our newest member, Icon Bakery & Kitchenette, a faith-based family who shares our passion for cooking and giving back to the community. As a registered non-profit, they are always eager to collaborate and exchange ideas, and they also participate in vendor markets. I had the pleasure of trying their Blondie and pepper jam, and I must say, they were both exceptional. I highly recommend checking them out and giving them a follow. They take special orders and post their daily offerings.
