Mayflower Lieutenant Taylor Decker has been selected as the Faulkner County Officer of the Year by the Arkansas Office of the Attorney General Tim Griffin. Lieutenant Decker will be recognized at a reception luncheon, which will be held on December 11, 2025, at the Benton Event Center in Saline County.
Lieutenant Decker is an experienced officer whose dedication, leadership, and service to our community consistently stand out. Over his years of service to the citizens of Mayflower, Lieutenant Decker has shown courage, integrity, and professionalism. He leads with confidence while still showing compassion, and he represents the best values of the department. This past year, his contributions have been outstanding. In his leadership capacity, Lieutenant Decker has supported and guided younger officers through mentorship, training, and by setting a strong daily example. Lieutenant Decker remains committed to community service as well. He consistently works hard to build positive relationships with the community and ensure people see the department as both protective and approachable. Further, whether handling critical incidents or managing complex cases, he shows good judgment and remains steady under pressure. His commitment to the citizens of Mayflower is unparalleled. He consistently steps up when the department or community needs extra help, often volunteering without being asked.
Recently, Lieutenant Decker was selected as one of 12 distinguished speakers nationwide to present at the 34 th Annual United States Homicide Conference, hosted by the Regional Organized Crime Information Center (ROCIC) in Austin, Texas. The conference brought together an audience of over 400 investigators representing 205 different law enforcement agencies across the United States. The invitation as a featured speaker was a result of his exemplary efforts in solving a challenging homicide case from 2023. Despite being a smaller department with limited resources, Lieutenant Decker remained committed and showed remarkable ingenuity and perseverance throughout the investigation. Within his role, he effectively utilized strategic collaborations with the ROCIC, its intelligence unit, the Arkansas State Police, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Memphis Homicide, and the US Secret Service. These collaborations, initiated by Lieutenant Decker, were crucial in retrieving digital evidence, which ultimately played a key role in solving the case. The leadership and worth ethic of Lieutenant Decker made it possible to bring justice to the victim’s family in this case.
