A PARENTS WORST NIGHTMARE ........
Losing a child and having to bury them. A man lost his son and couldn’t bare the thought of living without him. He was suffering and couldn’t believe his son was gone. He cried and cried every day and night, missing his son, wishing things were different.
He couldn’t sleep and hadn’t slept in a long time. One night an old medicine man came to him in a dream and told him “Enough!! That’s enough crying!!” The dad told him “I cannot stop, I am never going to see him again!” The old Medicine man said, “Do you want to see him again?” The dad says “yes of course” the old medicine man takes him to the entrance of happy hunting ground where he sees many little beautiful children, so happy and innocent, carrying eagle feathers into the happy hunting grounds, smiling and laughing and just so beautiful. The dad asks “where is my son? Who are these kids?” The old medicine man said “these are the children that are called home early, they are innocent and loved and they go right through to the happy hunting grounds, so happy” the dad says “and my son? Where is he? Why isn’t he with these children?” The old medicine man said, “come this way” and guided him to the side of entrance. A small boy with a beautiful smile was standing there watching all the children enter the happy hunting grounds. He was standing there within reach of an eagle's feather. His dad grabbed him and hugged him, and the boy kissed his dads' cheeks and told him he missed him. The dad said “why don't you have a eagles feather like the other kids? Why are you waiting here at the entrance?”
The boy said “I keep trying to get the eagle feather Daddy, but your tears pull it out of reach. I see you are so sad, and I am tied to that feeling so I wait here until you’re ok” the dad burst out crying for the last time, he told his son, “Get that eagle feather and go, I will be ok, and I know you will be too”
- Don't cry too long for that loved one you lost, whether son, daughter, husband, mother or father!! Let them rest in peace, don't torment your life, because they won't come back, have faith that you will be together again, and that Creator makes us a beautiful home with all our loved ones when we leave this world.

The safety of our members is very important to us.
With the pandemic still affecting communities throughout the country, WoodmenLife has made the decision to continue conducting all Fraternal activities electronically through June 2021.

Remember that even though we cannot gather in person, we can still live out our values.

01/08/2021

WoodmanLife 741 will have a virtual monthly meeting tomorrow, January 9 at 5 p.m. We had several participate in the last meeting and hope you plan to join the meeting.

Our next project is - Gratitude is Essential Campaign. We are to send three "Thanks" cards (and care packages) to local essential workers or groups before December 23. Qualifying organizations include healthcare workers, first responders and other groups on the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic in our communities. We need to decide who we will send cards and packages to, then complete the project before December 23. We will receive 1 Star for participating. Hopefully we will have a virtual meeting soon.

"Chapter members can expect a POSTCARD in the mail regarding a future virtual meeting. You should hang on to that card and attend the meeting if possible. Our Sales Reps will also be assisting in this endeavor by reaching out to active members and those who may never been active in a chapter before to discuss all the wonderful thing our chapter do within their communities! Again, we appreciate your patience as we explore new ways to communicate and get the job done and know I greatly look forward to speaking with many of you in December!"

ATTENTION: We are trying to set-up a meeting format on the internet. Members of 741 who want to participate in on-line meetings should call our WoodmanLife office and give them your e-mail address, or call the chapter secretary or president listed on the last page of our quarterly WoomenLife Magazines. Please do this as soon as you can so we can get started by next week. Thanks!!

Forwarded Lindsey Harlan: Pumpkin Carving Challenge
Let’s get creative! We’re separated, and our fraternal activities remain cancelled through October, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun “together"! We’re encouraging pumpkin-lovers to create original carvings that reflect a theme of Family, Community or Country. Then, we’re asking our chapters to choose one pumpkin to represent their chapter and submit a photo of it, via email, to their Community Outreach Advisor. All submissions will be subject to public vote and the winning chapter gets $300!

- Each WoodmenLife - Kentucky West Chapter will submit a photo of 1 carved or decorated pumpkin to [email protected]. (NOTE, only the winning pumpkin per chapter will be sent).
- The Pumpkin Carving Challenge submission period begins Oct. 7 and ends Oct. 16.
- Entrants must be at least 18.
- Entrants will create an original carving and take a photo of the artwork.
- Submissions will be voted on through Facebook between Oct. 19 and Oct. 23, and winners will be announced on Oct. 27. Please like WoodmenLife – Kentucky West on Facebook for additional information about voting!

Encourage your members to carve or decorate a pumpkin or pumpkins in celebration of fall. In order to be entered, the carving’s theme must adhere to a theme of Family, Community or Country. Encourage carvers to observe social distancing guidelines and not gather in large groups to create their artwork.

- All chapters that send in a photo submission of a member pumpkin carving will get a Star in the Five-Star Common Bond Challenge.
- Photos must be received by October 16th to be eligible for a Star. Please send only one photo per chapter.
- Each region’s winning carving will win $300 for the submitting chapter. Will your chapter be the Kentucky West winner?
