As we observe Juneteenth, we remember June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Texas were finally told they were free. This moment invites us to reflect on our history and the ongoing impact of racism today.

As people of faith, we affirm the dignity of every person and recommit ourselves to justice, reconciliation, and peace. Let us honor this day through reflection, prayer, and action working toward a future where freedom is shared by all.

This morning Governor DeWine held a press conference calling on the Ohio General Assembly to pass legislation to abolish the death penalty. He was thoughtful, deliberate and well-reasoned in why he's changed his mind on the death penalty.
