PUBLIC INFORMATION RELEASE

Early Fire Department

August 26, 2026

The Early Fire Department would like to make residents aware that, due to a shift in winds out of the northeast, smoke from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County is currently drifting into Brown County.

Residents may notice increased smoke, haze, and the smell of smoke throughout the area as winds continue to carry smoke into Brown County.

This notice is not intended to discourage anyone from calling 911. If you see flames, a column of smoke, or have any reason to believe there is an active fire in your area, please call 911 immediately so the appropriate Fire Department and Sheriffs Office can investigate.

This information is simply being provided so residents are aware that a significant amount of smoke may be visible or noticeable across Brown County due to the Ross Fire.

NLBVFD would like to thank our Sheriff Vance Hill for his dedication and help getting trees down at his expense. Were a volunteer dept that runs on VERY limited funds and him volunteering his time, equipment and fuel to help us will not go unnoticed. He is all about giving back to the community.. Thank you Vance. Volunteers helping volunteers makes a community.

Please everyone don't throw ci******es out the windows
Dont pull off side of road in tall grass your exhaust is hot will ignite grass
WE ARE UNDER A BURN BAN SO PLEASE LETS BE AWARE OF HOW DRY IT IS AND THINGS YOU DONT THINK OF WILL IGNITE THE DRY DEBRIS QUICKLY

Northlake FD is back up and running, the department will keep pushing forward like Jeremy would of wanted and follow his leadership he left behind. He trained us all well and left us big shoes to fill as we will, the path he paved will keep being traveled and will honor his legacy and drive he left for us. Our department is one big family and as family we stick together to help our community

Answering a question.
NLBVFD yes is in May, Texas and MVFD is in May, Texas. We work side by side, when one of us is lacking man power or need extra hands we call on each other thats what helping your neighbor is about always lending a hand. Both departments have a big radius to cover and the departments are made up of volunteers who have paying jobs also to go to. NLBVFD will always call on MVFD when needed or when we're man power down we ask them to cover our area. Thank you MVFD for always being a call away if needed. If you'd like to volunteer as a VFD please reach out to the department in your area. Were always looking for men or woman.
