I want to thank everyone for your support for the artificial turf initiative in Maumelle. So many people came out to help volunteer and support our efforts. Your support, your energy, and your belief in what upgraded athletic facilities could mean for our community have meant so much throughout this effort.

Unfortunately, the results were not what we had hoped for or expected. While we are disappointed in the outcome, we will not be discouraged. With over 475 players in our Spring Baseball League alone, we are one of the largest youth recreational baseball leagues in Central Arkansas. I am PROUD of our league and the opportunities it creates for our youth and always will be. I am also proud of the conversation this initiative sparked, proud of the unity it created between our baseball, softball and soccer associations, and proud of everyone who showed up, spoke up, and stood up for our young athletes.

We will continue moving forward, together.

From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to all of you who supported us throughout this process!

Why the Maumelle Area Chamber Supports All 7 Bond Issues

The Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce supports the City of Maumelle’s bond package because it strengthens the fundamentals businesses rely on to grow, attract talent, and remain competitive.

Why this matters to employers:

No New Tax: The bonds extend and restructure an existing ½-cent sales tax,no tax increase for businesses or residents.

Infrastructure Reliability: Road improvements and long-range transportation planning support employee access, logistics, and future development.

Public Safety Readiness: Investments in police and fire training facilities and future fire coverage protect people, property, and business continuity.

Growth Planning (Not Reaction): Fire Station #3 is included now so the City can plan responsibly for growth rather than respond after service levels are strained.

Workforce Quality of Life: Recreation amenities, trails, and athletic facilities help attract and retain employees and their families.

Tourism & Visitor Spending: Turf fields and improved amenities increase tournament hosting and visitor activity that supports local businesses.

Asset Preservation: Proactive maintenance at Lake Valencia protects public assets and reduces costly emergency repairs.

Economic Competitiveness: Together, these projects strengthen Maumelle’s profile for site selection, expansion, and investment.

⚠️ Important for Employers to Know:
Ballot Question 1 is foundational. If it does not pass, none of the other projects can be funded, even if approved individually.

We Need Your Support! Help Us Bring Synthetic Turf to Our Athletic Surfaces!

Maumelle Community,

I hope this message finds you well. As a proud member of our local sports community, I’m reaching out to ask for your support in an important initiative that would benefit our youth athletes for years to come.

We are currently advocating for the inclusion of a synthetic turf field project in the upcoming City of Maumelle bond issuance. This project would provide a much-needed upgrade to our current facilities, ensuring safer, more durable, and weather-resilient playing surfaces for our baseball, softball, and soccer programs. The total project would bring synthetic turf to 8 Baseball Fields, 5 Softball Fields and a full-size regulation Soccer Field.

Why synthetic turf?

• Increased playability – fewer cancellations due to rain or poor field conditions.

• Lower maintenance costs – reduced annual expenses for natural grass and dirt maintenance.

• Expanded access – more opportunities for practices, games, and community events.

To make this vision a reality, we need to show strong community support. Here’s how you can help.

Attend upcoming public meetings, complete the survey and spread the word. There will be two public meetings that you can attend.

1. Thursday, September 18th from 4:30-6:30pm at the Jess Odom Community Center

2. Tuesday, September 23rd from 12:00-2:00pm at the Jess Odom Community Center

3. Fill out the online survey ranking this project as #1 on the list of things to accomplish with the upcoming bond issuance to express why this project matters.

4. Share this message with other families, coaches, and supporters in your network and garner their support for the project.

Your voice can make a real difference. Together, we can create a lasting impact for current and future generations of young athletes in our community!

Thank you for your continued support of youth sports and our community!
