We encourage all to stay at home and enjoy a nice cup of cocoa, but if you have to get out and drive in the snow, slow down, avoid slamming your brakes, and keep a safe distance between you and the next vehicle.

If you have an emergency during this time, call 911. For all other non-emergency needs, please call the Maumelle Police Dept and dial the non-emergency extension.

During our meeting today, we were visited by LJ Wesley. She spoke with our members and answered questions about her views for the future of our city.

We are proud to say that we voted to endorse LJ Wesley for City Council.

We believe that her history in Maumelle, her dedication to community and her committment to service will bring a unique perspective to our city; and we can’t wait to see what she can bring to the table.

Don’t forget to vote!

Meet Sgt. Michael Murphy —

Sgt. Murphy is married and has 3 children (ages 10, 7, and 2). Sgt. Murphy was diagnosed with ALS 3 days after his 37th birthday which caused him to medically retire from the Maumelle Police Department very early. He explains this as a “gut wrenching feeling unlike anything I had ever experienced. What about my children, my wife, my future…?”

Sgt. Murphy spent some time in the Army before joining the UAMS Police Department in 2017.
Sgt. Murphy was then promoted to Corporal in October 2018.

Sgt. Murphy made the switch to the Maumelle Police Department in March 2019. During his time at MPD he was a certified hostage negotiator, Field Training Officer, SWAT certified - serving on the Special Response Team, and a detective. Sgt. Murphy was issued lifesaving awards in December 2019 and in September 2020.

He promoted to Sergeant in January of 2023, which he says was just the start of his career aspirations before he was diagnosed. He genuinely enjoys helping people and is an active member in his church and community. Now it’s our turn to help him.

** We would appreciate any and all donations to help our fellow officer. Stay tuned — we will also be announcing fundraiser ideas**
