“We often search for in the branches what can only be found in the root.”

The branches are our children. Visible, growing, and reaching toward possibility. But their strength, direction, and resilience are determined beneath the surface, in the root.

The root is mom.

Particularly in single-mother households, mothers serve as the primary source of stability, discipline, and vision. They are cultivating the conditions from which their children (especially young men navigating the absence of a father) develop identity, character, and purpose.

At The Program Inc, our approach is grounded in this understanding: sustainable impact requires investment at both levels. We work to equip and empower young men, while also intentionally supporting the mothers who anchor them. By strengthening the root, we ensure that the branches not only grow but thrive.

To stand in a room filled with so much love, generosity, and purpose reminded me of the incredible power of community. Joy is not just a feeling; it’s something we can create and share when we come together for a cause greater than ourselves.

We left with a full heart, grateful for every hand that gave, every voice that encouraged, and every spirit that showed up in support. It was a reminder that hope grows when we plant it together.
