⚠️ SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING ⚠️

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 3:15 PM CDT for parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Northeast Texas including Texarkana, Maud, Atlanta, Hope, Wake Village, Hooks, Nash, Jefferson, Linden, Daingerfield, Queen City, and surrounding areas.

🌪️ EXPECT:
• Wind gusts up to 60 MPH
• Small hail
• Possible damage to trees, roofs, and siding
• Dangerous storm conditions moving southeast at 35 MPH

🚨 PLEASE TAKE COVER NOW 🚨
Stay inside a sturdy building and away from windows. Do NOT wait until you hear thunder — damaging winds can arrive before the rain.

Prayers for the families 🙏🏼

Large police response at Texarkana Aluminum after reports of multiple people shot. Police radio traffic indicates the shooter is down.

UPDATE - Eddie Ray Hill Jr., 48, of Texarkana was shot and killed this morning at Texarkana Aluminum in Nash after trying to intervene in a coworker's domestic dispute, according to police.
The shooter, Wendell Lane Champion Jr., 40, of Hope, then wounded his wife Candis Jolene Champion before killing himself.
Texarkana Aluminum has setup a crisis response team which is working with the Nash Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies.
Champion was a recently paroled murderer after killing a security guard in a 2007 robbery. See less

Important notes about the burn ban/no fireworks notice for Bowie county.

That is for UNINCORPORATED parts of the county. If a city in the county does not allow fireworks inside the city limits, that city would have to post a city ordinance against fires/fireworks.

As of this post, New Boston and Nash has posted a city ordinance against fireworks. The city of Texarkana also has a city ordinance outlawing fireworks inside the city limits. If you live inside the city limits of any incorporated city, Check your local city hall or ordinances. Maud city hall just confirmed over the phone that the ban is for outside of the city limits.

Redwater city hall - no answer

Wake Village - Wake Village City Code § 111.38 states no fireworks allowed.

Hooks City Hall - no answer

Maud - Agrees county only

Dekalb - City code Title 4, Chapter 2, Section 4-2-2 states no fireworks

A child was killed and a Maud teenager was injured in a crash near Red Lick Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
