𝐁𝐄𝐘𝐎𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐒 | 𝐀 𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐖𝐇𝐎 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊 𝐖𝐈𝐓𝐇 𝐇𝐈𝐒 𝐌𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑
Festus Mutai remembers being alone with his mother when she told him she had felt something hard in her breast.
He wasn't sure what it meant.
So he accompanied her to the hospital.
Samples were taken, and the diagnosis was confirmed: breast cancer.
From that moment, Festus says, he walked with his mother throughout the journey.
He could not miss the cancer survivors' gathering because, in his words, they had journeyed together.
His message is simple and powerful:
“𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘪𝘳𝘤𝘭𝘦, 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸.”
Cancer can be frightening. But having someone you trust beside you can provide strength when the journey becomes difficult.
And sometimes, support begins with simply saying:
“𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆. 𝑾𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒐𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓.”

MEET DR. RUMBIDZAI ~ A HEART SURGEON WITH A PURPOSE!

From Lilongwe, Malawi, to the operating rooms of AGC Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre, Dr. Rumbidzai’s journey into cardiothoracic surgery was born from a life-changing encounter with a child whose heart needed help, but sadly, did not survive long enough to receive it.

That moment became her 'why'

Today, as a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellow, she is turning that painful experience into purpose, equipping herself with the skills to help bring sustainable, life-saving cardiac care closer to the people of Malawi.

Her story reminds us that sometimes, one heartbreaking moment can inspire a lifetime of healing.

Training with purpose. Serving with compassion. Healing hearts. Transforming lives.

Thanks to the support of our donors, children at AGC Tenwek Hospital have a dedicated Child Life Space where they can play, learn, and simply be children while receiving care. The space also supports pediatric ward devotions and hosts the Special Needs Clinic every Friday, helping families receive both practical support and Christ-centered encouragement.

Thank you for helping create places of hope for our youngest patients.

At just 4 years old, Baby Brian Kipruto faced a complex congenital heart condition—but his story is one of courage, resilience, and hope.

Through life-saving care at AGC Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre, Brian received the treatment he needed, giving his little heart a new chance to beat stronger and his family a reason to smile again.

Today, we celebrate this little champion and the journey he has overcome. His story reminds us that even the smallest hearts can carry the greatest stories of courage.

Baby Jayden recently returned to Tenwek to visit the NICU team that cared for him during his six-month journey. His family brought a cake to celebrate God's faithfulness and thank the nurses and doctors who walked with them every step of the way.
