The mission of Gethsemane Garden Christian Centre (GGCC) is to rescue and give hope to HIV/AIDS orphans and impoverished children by educating and equipping them to impact Kenyan culture and the world for Jesus Christ. GGCC helps to meet the physical, educational, and spiritual needs of these children, and provide hope for their futures. Our Biblical mandate: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this; to look after orphans and widows in their distress…" - James 1:27

Soon, the GGCC campus will once again be filled with familiar faces, laughter, learning, friendships, and the energy that comes when our students are together.

We hope they’ve enjoyed a wonderful and refreshing break, because a new school term is right around the corner—and we’re ready!

There’s so much to look forward to in the months ahead, and we’re grateful for another opportunity to learn, grow, and dream together.

See you soon, students!

Happy Birthday, Uncle Bill! 🎉❤️

Today we celebrate someone who has been part of the GGCC story since before there was a GGCC.

Long before the school and ministry we know today took shape on Mfangano Island, Bill was there—supporting the Bible translation work and building relationships that would become part of the foundation for all that God would later do.

Over the years, those relationships deepened, the ministry grew, and Bill became known affectionately to our Kenyan family simply as “Uncle Bill.” ❤️

It is a name that says so much. He isn't just one of GGCC's U.S. founders. He is family.

Bill has had the extraordinary blessing of watching God take seeds planted many years ago and grow them into a ministry that has now touched generations of children and families. His faithful friendship, prayers, encouragement, and love for the people of Mfangano have been woven into this story from the very beginning.

Today, we hope you'll join all of us on both sides of the ocean in wishing Uncle Bill a very Happy Birthday!

Uncle Bill, we thank God for you, for your faithful “yes” through the years, and for the legacy you continue to help build. May God richly bless you in the year ahead!

Happy Birthday, Uncle Bill! 🎂🎉

What happens after a child leaves GGCC? ❤️

We wanted to know—not just where our graduates go, but who they become.

So we sent one of our own GGCC alumni, Ken, on the road to find out.

From Nairobi to Eldoret, Ken has been reconnecting with former GGCC students and listening to their stories. He has met accountants, engineers, medical professionals, a radio presenter, a financial analyst, entrepreneurs, ministry leaders—and more.

But what has moved us most isn't their job titles.

They still call GGCC home.

Again and again, they have shared how the love they received and the Word of God planted in their hearts as children continue to shape their lives today.

And this is only the beginning.

Over the coming weeks, we can't wait to introduce you to some of these remarkable young men and women—and let you hear their stories in their own words.

This is what happens when you invest in a child—not just for a school year, but for a lifetime.

Stay with us. Their stories are coming. ❤️

To God be the glory!

“Hallelujah, I’ve been delivered!”

What a joy it is to celebrate new life in Christ!

Today, we invite you to pray for the new believers as they begin this beautiful journey of growing in their faith. Pray that their roots will grow deep, that they will hunger for God’s Word, and that they will come to know more fully the love, grace, and purpose He has for their lives.

Please also pray for the teachers and staff who faithfully disciple and minister to them—that God would give them wisdom, patience, discernment, and the right words as they help these young believers understand what it means to follow Jesus.

Salvation is the beginning of an incredible journey. What a privilege it is to watch God at work in the lives of these precious people—and to pray alongside them as their faith grows. ❤️

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

Will you join us in praying for our new believers and those who are discipling them? 🙏🇰🇪

Unstuck was never meant to end when the training week did.

Thanks to connections made by our US Director, Mitchelle, GGCC received a proven, Scripture-grounded trauma healing curriculum directly from trainers connected with the Trauma Healing Institute at American Bible Society.

Although the program is normally presented over a longer period, our team adapted it into five focused and meaningful days. By the final day, newly trained facilitators celebrated their learning through skits that brought joy and energy to the close of a challenging week.

The real work now continues beyond the sessions. Our team hopes to extend this training to more staff and keep walking alongside the orphans and vulnerable children in our care—not rushing their healing, but remaining present as they move through grief toward what our team calls “the last bus stop”: a place of greater peace, restoration, and hope.

The same Jesus who said, “Peace, be still,” continues to walk with every student finding their footing after the storm.

🇰🇪⚽ TWO GGCC STUDENTS ARE HEADED TO THE EAST AFRICA GAMES! ⚽🇰🇪

We have BIG news from Mfangano Island!

Thomas Rugambwa and Maggie Stephanie have been selected to represent Team Kenya 🇰🇪 in the upcoming East Africa Games! Thomas will compete as a goalkeeper, and Maggie as a defender.

And Maggie’s story makes this even more exciting! Because she is still in junior secondary (middle school to our US friends), she would normally compete only at the school level. But apparently, no one told her talent it was supposed to stop there! 😊

After an outstanding performance at the national championships, Maggie caught the attention of scouts from the Kenya Academy of Sports.

From Mfangano Island ➡️ county competition ➡️ nationals ➡️ TEAM KENYA! 🇰🇪

What an accomplishment for these two young athletes!

Please join us in celebrating Thomas and Maggie and praying for them as they prepare to represent their country on the East African stage.

Thomas and Maggie, your GGCC family is cheering LOUDLY for you from Kenya and around the world! 🙌🇰🇪⚽

At GGCC, caring for a child is never the responsibility of just one person.

That is why 12 staff members from across school life—including teachers, house parents, our cook, pharmacist, and representative for orphans and vulnerable children—were selected to participate in Unstuck trauma-healing training.

Each morning, our staff experienced the day’s lesson as learners. That same afternoon, they shared what they had learned with our students, immediately putting their training into practice.

Now, every department that touches our children’s daily lives has someone better equipped to recognize trauma and respond with understanding. It may be a teacher who recognizes a trigger, a house parent who knows how to create a safe space, or a pharmacist who understands why a student may be on edge.

This is how a week of training becomes lasting change: caring adults carrying healing into the ordinary rhythms of each day.

“He comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” — 2 Corinthians 1:4

We recently hosted more than 50 GGCC students who participated in Unstuck, a Bible-based trauma healing program developed by the Trauma Healing Institute at American Bible Society.

For many students, the week offered something deeply important: a safe opportunity to speak about their pain for the first time. They learned what trauma is, explored the roots of struggles they had carried without understanding, and practiced tools such as Box Breathing to help manage moments of anger, anxiety, or panic.

Again and again, students described the experience with one simple word: relief.

But healing is not something we rush or complete in a single week. We will continue walking beside our students, trusting God to lead each heart toward greater peace—one faithful step at a time.

“There is a time for everything…a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1,4

HE SEES THE FAITHFUL ONES ❤️

As we prepare to welcome our children back to school, we want to pause before the campus fills again with footsteps, laughter, lessons, meals, prayers, and activity.

This morning, a song reminded us of a beautiful truth: we may never be famous in the eyes of the world, but we are fully known by our Father.

And immediately, we thought of the people who quietly make the ministry of GGCC possible every single day.

Our teachers. Houseparents. Administrators. Cooks. Grounds and maintenance staff. Spiritual leaders. Support staff. And so many others whose names may never appear in a newsletter or a Facebook post.

They teach another lesson. Prepare another meal. Wash another uniform. Repair another building. Comfort a homesick child. Pray with a struggling student. Stay late. Arrive early. And then get up the next morning and faithfully do it all again.

There may be no applause for much of this work.

But God sees it.

He knows every name. He sees every sacrifice, every act of patience, every prayer whispered over a child, and every seed planted in a young life.

And as hundreds of children return to GGCC next week, we are reminded that this ministry isn't carried forward only through the moments people see. It is carried forward through countless acts of quiet faithfulness by men and women who have answered God's call to love and serve His children.

To our incredible GGCC faculty and staff: thank you.

Your work matters. Your faithfulness matters. And whether or not the world ever knows your name, our Father does.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord."
— Colossians 3:23

May God strengthen you, encourage you, and remind you as a new term begins: He sees you. He knows you. And He is using your faithfulness for His Great Work. ❤️🇰🇪

What a beautiful week at GGCC! ❤️

Thank you to everyone who welcomed us with such warmth, generosity, and genuine hospitality. The beauty of Mfangano Island is incredible, but it’s the people of GGCC who make this place so special.

We are leaving with full hearts, grateful for every moment, every smile, and every reminder of God’s goodness. 🇰🇪❤️
