A remarkable example of leadership and community service from Scouts BSA Troop 39 out of Matthews, NC (Mecklenburg County Council).

While on their way to Camp Grimes, Scout leader Jason Yepko and his scouts spotted flames outside Calvary’s Cross Baptist Church in Cleveland County. Without hesitation, they pulled over, used their water (and even cups of soda!) to put out two fires before firefighters arrived — helping prevent further damage.

Yepko summed it up perfectly: “Do a good turn daily. Couldn’t think of a better example of trying to live that.”

Kudos to Troop 39 for turning their motto into action and showing what preparedness, teamwork, and quick thinking look like in real life.

Scouting for Food! Collecting donations and sorting. All donations support NourishUp a local nonprofit, food bank and community food program provider. Nourish Up This is happening around town with various Troops including our hardworking team at Troop 39!

You can still drop off donations Matthews United Methodist Church and The Arboretum Shopping Center until around 1pm today!

Troop 39 is always busy. This was Highway cleanup from Saturday morning. They get up early and require full uniforms to go out and clean community roadsides in Matthews.

BBQ FUNDRAISER TIME!! Best in NC. Come over and buy some tomorrow. If you’ve already placed orders with our Boy Scouts that’s fantastic. You can pick those up tomorrow at Matthews United Methodist Church from 11 AM to 7 PM.
Barbecue by the pound is $13 per pound
Barbecue plates with sides $12 each.
Cornbread eight dollars per pie pan.
Homemade hot and regular sauce five dollars per bottle.
Reaper sauce $10 per bottle.
Pick up for barbecue by the pound only also available on Saturday 9 AM to noon.
