Thinking about those summer days. The Lost River Classic is a grassroots event in Mathias, WV--the fourth race in the WV Gravel Series . With live bluegrass music and a large farmer's market, this is becoming one of the go-to events in the mid-Atlantic gravel calendar.

All proceeds benefit Lost River Trails Coalition and the Hardy County Cryptids West Virginia Interscholastic Cycling League team.

Between completing the first 3 miles of the Jay Moglia Beginner Trail in Lost River State Park, our 15-member Hardy County Cryptids junior mountain bike team, and the Lost River Classic with its all-time showing of nearly 200 riders, 2025 was a banner year for the Lost River Trails Coalition. More info about the Jay Moglia beginner mountain bike trail system, including where to find it in Lost River State Park! It's so new, it doesn't appear on any maps. Santa came early for the Lost River Trails Coalition! The IMBA Trail Solutions crew finished the first three miles of the Jay Moglia Beginner Trail in Lost River State Park, the first machine-built mountain bike trails in Hardy County and one of the only adaptive MTB trails in West Virginia. The West Virginia Interscholastic Cycling League team looks forward to practicing on it this summer. We will unveil the trails at a grand opening in the spring, but they are ridable NOW!

After two months of construction, the first phase of the Jay Moglia Beginner Trail is about 80% complete! We are on pace to finish by Christmas. Thanks to and their hard work! The trails will be ridable this winter (weather permitting), but look for a grand opening event in the spring. This project is made possible by a federal Recreational Trails Program grant

The first dusting of snow fell on Lost River State Park last week, but the International Mountain Bicycling Association Trail Solutions team was able to add another 1900' of trail. Almost two miles of adaptive beginner mountain bike trail have been built, so phase 1 of the Jay Moglia Beginner Trail is about about 66% complete.
