Pioneer Bluffs has a new executive director with a familiar name…
John Rogler brings extensive skills and experience, in addition to having a unique connection - his ancestors homesteaded Pioneer Bluffs in 1859.

Lt. Colonel John Rogler is a 28-year Air Force Fighter Pilot, with four combat deployments. He has widespread experience in business, sales, and management; most recently, he was an economist with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

You’ll have a chance to meet John at upcoming events, including volunteer workdays. He invites you to reach out to him at [email protected].

Terrific panel and discussion on Woody Invasion of Flint Hills at Pioneer Bluffs yesterday. See maps showing invasion (including huge increase in TICK numbers - Yikes!) We all learned alot and are even more inspired to save our grasslands and diverse wildlife who depend on the prairie to live. Invasion is happening fast - We must act now!
Thanks to panelists: Luke Westerman of NRCS, Jackson Lindamood recent K-State MA thesis, and Kaitlin Schmidt of Dyck Arboretum, and to all who came.
This was our first Josh and Jim Hoy Memorial Prairie Talk. We were thankful to have Farrell Hoy Jenab and Lucy Jenab with us.

Our next Prairie Talk is June 6, 2026 in the historic Barn loft. Come and listen to Luke Westerman, Katie Schmidt and Jackson Lindamood talk about Woody Invasion. The talk will start at 2pm and be over by 4pm. Hope to see you there!!!

Our next volunteer workday is THIS Saturday, May 16. Everyone is welcome. The weather will be beautiful and we have a lot to accomplish!!!

The day will begin around 8:30 a.m. in the Rogler home at Pioneer Bluffs, with coffee, donuts, and catching up. Around 9:00 a.m., we'll go to work. The goals for the morning:

*Hanging donor banners on the fence. A few will be taken off, and we need to add 20 new ones (a lot of new donors last year). We'll have zip ties for those who want to tackle this big job.
*W**d eating - around the barn, granary, stone wall.
*Pull weeds around house sidewalk stones and landscape area.
*Pick up sticks and limbs.
*Clean inside granary, especially restrooms.
*If time, general dusting/sweeping in house and barn.
*Annie will be working on a history-research project, it's a one-woman job.
*Do YOU know of a project that is needed?

We'll end around 11:30ish with lunch. Join us!
