🇺🇸❤️ Five Years. One Mission. So Many Lives Touched. ❤️🇺🇸
Five years ago, I was given the incredible honor of becoming the Executive Director of this organization. As I reflect on these five years, I find myself filled with gratitude, humility, and a heart full of memories.
Five years of serving those who served us.
Five years of meeting veterans and their families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. Five years of listening to their stories, sharing in their struggles, celebrating their victories, and doing everything I could to bring a little comfort, hope, and help when it was needed most.
There have been moments that have broken my heart — and moments that have filled it beyond measure.
A helping hand when someone felt they had nowhere else to turn.
A family receiving support during a difficult time.
A veteran realizing that someone truly cared.
A simple “thank you” that reminded me why this work matters so much.
These are the moments I carry with me.
Over the past five years, we have grown our programs, expanded our reach, strengthened our fundraising, and established an endowment to help ensure that our veterans will continue to have support for generations to come. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished and I know that none of it was accomplished alone.
It truly takes a community. It takes a village.
To our amazing community partners, donors, volunteers, businesses, organizations, board members, friends, and everyone who has believed in this mission, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Your generosity and support have allowed us to say “yes” when a veteran needed us most.
Thank you for believing that our veterans deserve to be lifted up.
Thank you for helping us provide comfort in times of need.
Thank you for standing beside the men and women who stood for all of us.
And to every veteran and veteran family we have had the privilege of serving: thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your journey. It is an honor I will never take for granted.
Five years later, I am just as passionate, just as grateful, and more committed than ever than serving those who need us most.
I often say that this work is not simply a job, it is a calling. And I am so incredibly blessed to have found a purpose that allows me to give back to those who gave so much for our country.
Here’s to five years of service, compassion, community, hope, and heart. 🇺🇸
And here’s to the work still ahead because our veterans deserve nothing less than our very best.
With a grateful and humble heart,
Lucia 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
