Week 2 wrapped up with our final guest coach of the week, and what a week it was. 💪🤼

Over the course of the week, our athletes had the opportunity to learn from three outstanding coaches, each bringing their own style, techniques, and experience to the room.

From beginner-friendly fundamentals to more advanced concepts, our wrestlers were challenged to adapt, learn, and think differently. That’s where growth happens.

One of the greatest lessons in wrestling—and in life—is learning how to take information from different sources, apply it, and make it your own.

Day after day, these athletes continue to show up, put in the work, and add new tools to their toolbox. More importantly, they’re building confidence, discipline, and a mindset that will serve them long after the wrestling season is over.

A special THANK YOU to our guest coaches this week:

🔥 Tuesday: Coach Germane Lindsey
Moeller High School Wrestling Coach

🔥 Wednesday: Carson Gainey
Athens High School Wrestling Coach
2026 USA Wrestling Masters Double Champion (Freestyle & Greco-Roman)
2026 US Open Wrestling Masters Freestyle & Greco-Roman Team Champion

🔥 Thursday: Tony Guerra
Head Coach, Tiffin University Wrestling
2005–2008 NCAA All-American

Thank you for taking time out of your schedules to invest in these athletes, share your knowledge, and help raise the level of wrestling in our community.

The standard continues to rise.

Let’s keep the needle moving. 📈🔥

One of our goals this summer was to expose our athletes to as much wrestling knowledge and experience as possible.

This week has been a great reminder that wrestling is bigger than any one club, school, or coach.

We’ve been fortunate to have several guest coaches step into the room, share their knowledge, teach new techniques, answer questions, and pour into our athletes. Their willingness to give back to the next generation is helping us build something special here in Columbus.

Every coach brings a different perspective.
Every coach brings a different experience.
And every athlete benefits from learning something new.

To all of the guest coaches who have joined us so far this week—thank you for investing your time, energy, and expertise into these young wrestlers.

And we’re not done yet…

👀 We have one more special guest coach joining us tonight to help close out the week strong.

The mission remains the same:
🤼 Grow the sport
🤝 Build relationships
💪 Raise the level of wrestling across the city

The future of Columbus wrestling is bright.

WEEK 1 ALMOST IN THE BOOKS 🔥

The smiles, the sweat, the competition, the learning—that’s what it’s all about.

We’ve had athletes from all over the city step into the room this week ready to work. Some came looking to sharpen their skills, some came looking for confidence, and some came just wanting to be part of something bigger than themselves.

No matter where they started, every athlete left better (or more tired) than they came.

This is bigger than takedowns and wins. We’re building competitors, leaders, and a stronger wrestling community for Columbus.

Week 1 has been awesome, but we’re nowhere near finished.

Back to work tomorrow to finish this week out strong. 💪🤼‍♂️🔥

Too many people have counted City League wrestling out.
Too many athletes have been overlooked.
Too many teams have accepted “good enough.”

That stops NOW.

This summer, Ohio Heroes is partnering with South High School and Columbus City Schools to help raise the standard for City League wrestling and bring real competition back to the city. 💪🔥

We’re not building excuses.
We’re building wrestlers.
We’re building tougher athletes, stronger programs, and a culture that competes.

📍 South High School
📅 June 2nd – August 8th
🗓 Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays
👊 7th–12th Grade

This camp is for athletes and programs that want more:
✔️ Better technique
✔️ Better conditioning
✔️ Better confidence
✔️ Better results when the season starts

And coaches—this is an opportunity to get your athletes in the room consistently this offseason and help move City League wrestling FORWARD together.

The goal is simple:
Raise the bar.
Build tougher competitors.
Create a City League people respect again.

Because champions aren’t built during the season…
they’re built in the offseason.

⚠️ Team participation encouraged.
Let’s get the city working again.

New to wrestling? You’re in the right place.

Here’s what your athlete can expect:

✔️ A safe, structured environment
Wrestling is a tough sport, but it’s taught with control, discipline, and safety first.

✔️ Starting with the basics
We focus on stance, motion, and foundational skills—no experience needed.

✔️ Clear instruction and guidance
Athletes will learn the rules, techniques, and how to apply them step by step.

✔️ Growth over time
We emphasize learning, practicing, and retaining skills—not rushing the process.

Everyone starts somewhere—and we’re here to help every athlete grow.
