Massena Hometown Heroes Committee would like to first, express our heartfelt gratitude for your support in honoring our local heroes by displaying a Hero banner. Your participation has made a significant impact in recognizing the bravery and sacrifices of our servicemen and women.

As you may know, Massena Hometown Heroes Committee is dedicated to promote patriotism, positive sense of pride and to honor our military heroes that have done so much for our community and the world in general. To continue our efforts in expanding our Hero banner program, maintaining our displays, supporting veterans, etc., we rely heavily on the generosity of individuals like you who share our passion for honoring our heroes.

With this in mind, we kindly ask for your support through a donation to our cause. Your contribution will help us maintain existing banners. This year we are looking at replacing 16 banners that were blown away in the wind (it was wild this last season) or damaged due to falling several times because of the wind. If you would like to donate or sponsor a banner to be replaced please reach out! Every dollar donated will go directly towards ensuring that our heroes receive the recognition and support they deserve.

We offer a few ways to make a donation:

Mail: Send a check payable to American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 79 and put Hometown heroes banner donation in the memo.

Happy Wednesday everyone!! With the deadline of the application passing for the 2026 applications of the Hometown Heroes banners I have been diligently going through them to be sure they all qualify! (Just double checking dates and paperwork etc...)

I will be emailing each of you who submitted a banner application for confirmation on the heroes information within the next week!! Please be on the lookout for your email!

Thank you all for supporting the banner program! I'm super excited to have several more to add to the collection!! May is truly my favorite month, honoring our heroes and making our town so much more beautiful while doing so😍🇺🇸

Here's what so many of you have all been waiting patiently for! The 2026 hero banner application. This year it looks a bit different! Take a look, fill it out, gather your photos and documents if needed and remember if you already have a banner there is no need to re-apply your banner will go back up next season! This weekend I will be dropping paper copies off at the Massena Public Library the Massena Elks lodge the American Legion and the VFW. Please be sure you are filling the correct application out! It needs to say 2026 on it!!
We're so excited to see more heroes celebrated in this town!! 🇺🇸

The next stop is Jenack's Canvas
Then they are off to the DPW and MED for hanging!
That will happen sometime in May!

Good afternoon!
A quick update on the banners!!
They are in the printer's hands!! 🎉🇺🇲

Next they will go off to be sewn together then hung up sometime in May! (I never know it's always a fun surprise when they appear!)

Thank you to all who submitted a banner for the 2025 season. The application process is closed out for this year. I have emailed everyone who has submitted a banner. Please check your email to verify that the spelling, branch and photograph are all correct!!
Thank you again for a wonderful 2024 season, I can't wait for the new banners to join the past banners making our town beautiful while reminding us of our HEROES!!

I'd also like to take a min to thank those who have reached out and donated to the program. YOU are appreciated and we are grateful!

After doing inventory we have found that we lost one set of banners and need to replace several others due to the wild wind storms we had this past year.
We are still looking for donations! If you can help out please let me know.

Lots of applications and donations rolling in while I was away last week (family emergency out of state) thank you for being patient with me, those who reached out and needed help, I'll be available to do that tomorrow! The deadline is fast approaching. Please get me your applications! You can find them here to print out or visit your local Massena Amvets, Elks, American Legion or Moose Lodge for a printed copy.

Today we honor our Veterans. Thank you to all who served. 🇺🇲

Massena, As you remember your Veterans consider purchasing a banner for them! We are accepting active duty military as well!

We are accepting applications now through the beginning of January.
