The Town of Massena has opted into the MRTA and will allow dispensaries (but opting out of consumption sites like the Village).

MASSENA -- Cannabis will be allowed within the town after officials officially voted to allow dispensaries within the town.

Also not sure if it's a typo or not but makes mention that the Town of Massena will be doing the same tonight. Zero mention of dispensaries just consumption sites.

Potsdam NY enters the cannabis ring and the question whether to opt in or opt out. As a college town the answer should be pretty clear, but hey its Northern New York, much like the lottery you never know.

POTSDAM — The Potsdam village board of trustees will host a public input session on Monday, Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. on allowing licensed cannabis retail businesses and/or on-site consumption locations in the village.

FYI there is the misconception that Medical Home Grow is going to be legal in NYS come Friday, which marks the 6 month anniversary of the signing of MRTA.

This is due to the very vague writing involved in the law which makes it sound like 6 months after the law was signed. It is in fact 6 months after the formation of the Cannabis Control Board, which is forming but not finalized yet.

I would suspect Medical Home Grow to be legal by next Spring, just in time for the outdoor growing season.

General Home Grow will not be legal until 18 months after the first dispensary opens. Tribal dispensaries do not count as they operate under their own laws.

Meanwhile in the Village of Massena...

Deputy Mayor talked to a handful of people who were all against it, but being born and raised 5th generation I easily know it was probably folks from the older generation who got the full blast of the Re**er Madness Propaganda.

And as I've said in previous posts, beyond an actual medical dispensary that can fulfill prescriptions, Massena needs not to worry about this stuff with Akwesasne right next door.

Canton held a public meeting to gauge the public's opinion on dispensaries and on site lounges. The majority of those who went are for opting in, with one lone dude against it citing needles and other uneducated ignorance.

CANTON -- The consensus at a public meeting on Wednesday night was pro cannabis although concerns were voiced regarding where dispensaries may be located.

Governor Hochul announced that Reuben R. McDaniel, III and Jessica Garcia have been appointed to the board of Office of Cannabis Management.

Sadly after combing the petition with a fine tooth comb and using rigorous and strict NYS law, the petition for a referendum in the City of Watertown is declared invalid due to lack of signatures.

This comes after Mayor Jeffy even signed it himself in a show that the citizens should have the right to vote on it, because no one could mistake that move as a political carnival show.

It should be noted Mayor Jeffy was one of the first in Municipalities to voice their opposition to dispensaries in their towns.

But of course you can always take a trip into the North Country interior and visit Akwasasne where you have more than enough shops to suit your needs.

Shop local. Buy local. Just not in Jefferson County.

A last-ditch effort to get ma*****na dispensaries legalized in the city of Watertown is shot down.

Canton will be holding a virtual public meeting on the MRTA on September 22nd at 4pm via Zoom. This is to discuss the now aging old question of to opt out or not to opt out.

CANTON — The village of Canton will hear public comment on Sept. 22, regarding permitting cannabis sale and consumption.
