The Lions of the Massapequas are proud to join the VA for a Spring Clothing Drive for Veterans. As the seasons change, many veterans in our community are in need of new or clean, gently used clothing. Join us in giving back to the men and women who have given so much in service to our country. Your donation helps provide comfort, dignity, and support to those who helped defend our freedoms. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿฆ

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of John M. Miro, a Nassau County Crossing Guard and longtime Massapequa resident.

On February 26, 2026, John was struck while faithfully performing his duty protecting children as they crossed the street in Merrick. Today, he sadly passed away from his injuries.

Crossing guards serve our communities with quiet courage and unwavering dedication. Each day, they stand in the roadway to ensure that our children arrive safely to and from school. John answered that call of service with commitment and care, and his selfless dedication to the safety of others will never be forgotten.

Our hearts go out to Johnโ€™s family, friends, fellow crossing guards, and all who knew and loved him. His service and sacrifice remind us of the everyday heroes who watch over our communities.

May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who were touched by his life.
