🚒❤️ Community Fundraiser for Hannah Ruggles ❤️🚒

Join Deerfield Township Professional Firefighters Local 4286 and Sonder as we come together to support Hannah Ruggles of the Muncie Fire Department in her fight against cancer.

Local 4286 is proud to announce the placement of Carter Bags on all of our ambulances.

These bags contain sensory support items such as fidgets, noise-reducing headphones, and other tools designed to help patients experiencing sensory overload, including neurodivergent individuals, those with learning impairments, and anyone who may benefit from sensory management during emergency care.

This project reflects our commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to every member of our community.

A special thank you to union members Collin Mellendorf and Brad Crowthers for organizing and driving this project forward. We would also like to thank Jessie Woodruf for her educational lecture on sensory management and for introducing these bags to our department.

We are grateful for everyone involved in helping make our ambulances more accessible, understanding, and supportive for the patients we serve.

🚒 Calling All High School Students! 🚒

Want to make a difference in your community this summer? We’re looking for high school volunteers to help as counselors at our annual Safety Town this June!

Safety Town is a fun and interactive program that teaches young kids important safety lessons - from fire safety to bike safety and everything in between. As a volunteer counselor, you’ll help guide activities, work with the kids, and be part of a great team alongside our firefighters and staff.

It’s a great way to:
⭐ Earn volunteer hours
⭐ Build leadership experience
⭐ Have fun helping younger students learn important life skills

If you enjoy working with kids and want to give back to the community, we’d love to have you join us!

🇺🇸 Calling All Veterans of Our Department 🇺🇸

IAFF Local 4286 is proud to honor the men and women of our department who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

We have a new veterans recognition plaque and want to make sure every past member who has served in the military is properly recognized. If you are a former member of our department and have served, we would be honored to include your name.

Our union family is rallying around Firefighter Charlie Pell, who was recently diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. Because he served as a part-time firefighter, he has no employer insurance, and his workers’ comp claim was denied, leaving his family with massive medical expenses and no income while his wife cares for him full-time.

We’re asking our brothers, sisters, and community to step up.

Charlie has spent decades serving others. Now it’s our turn to support him.

Why We Need You Now Because Charlie serves as a Part-Time member, he does not have employer-sponsored health insurance. To make matters worse, Workman’s Comp dropped his case and denied coverage, classifying his injury as a disability rather than a line-of-duty injury.
