Foundational Values: Loving God and loving people

Our two most important values come from the greatest commandments Jesus gave us: Love God, Love Others. The first reaches deep into our souls, while the second opens wide to the world around us. Based on the first commandment, we believe the greatest gift we can give the world is our intimacy with God, which forms the foundation for loving relationships with others.

🔥 Forge Spark of the Day

When your plan hits a wall, God's path for you is still wide open.

Maybe the door you expected to walk through just closed. That doesn't mean you're stuck. A closed door in front of you isn't the same as God running out of options. He is still moving, and He sees a way you can't see yet. Trust Him with the next step, even when the whole path isn't clear. His faithfulness has never depended on you seeing the whole road.

Jeremiah has never walked a day in his life. Born with no leg, he has been in a wheelchairs his whole life. A family member left him a mobile home in her will but he hasn’t been able to live in it because he had no way to get inside. Instead he was living in an unfinished basement of some friends. Smoky Mountain Outreach built Jeremiah a wheelchair ramp. He finally has the ability to get into his new home!

Smoky Mountain Outreach partnered with Work Loving God and The Forge Church, Pigeon Forge on a local mission project in Kodak, TN on Saturday, May 9.
We worked together to make some needed repairs on a deck and sidewalk at the home of a 100 year old, wheelchair bound lady who could not safely enjoy her outdoor space.
We removed the old decking, added additional 2x6 framing support, and installed new 2x6 decking and three sections of handrails. Since the owner enjoys her plants and flowers, we added an extra wide top rail to one handrail section so she could access her flowers from her wheelchair.
The nine of us had a wonderful day of construction worship as the owner stayed inside her screened-in porch and told stories from her life and supervised our work.
Thank you to everyone who worked on or supported this project.

““Those from among you will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up the age-old foundations; And you will be called the repairer of the breach, The restorer of the streets in which to dwell.”
