Freedom House Haiti Freedom House is a children's home in Cap Haitian, Haiti that was opened in Summer 2014. Usually these kids are between the ages of 4-15.

Most of the children at the Freedom House were restaveks, or in extremely poor conditions. A restavek is a child that has been given to another family as a servant in hopes to have their basic needs met. They do all the household chores, cooking, cleaning, washing and fetching water. They are often abused and most likely do not go to school. We can’t change the fact that this still happens in Haiti but we can change the lives and futures of our kids. These kids now have FREEDOM everyday and NEVER have to worry about where their next meal will come from or shoes for their feet. We want to give these kids a lifetime of Love, Hope and Freedom to be the change for Haiti’s future.

One of the hardest parts of Freedom House has always been knowing that our children will eventually grow up and leave us.

For one of our older boys, that time has come. After many years at Freedom House, Jolesse will soon return to his family in the mountains of Laborde. Because of some ongoing medical needs, independent living will be difficult for him, so we have worked carefully to put a plan in place that will allow him to continue receiving his medication and seeing a doctor regularly while living with his family.

But we also want to leave his family with something that can help them care for him long after he leaves Freedom House.

We would love to give them a cow. 🐄

In Haiti, a cow is much more than a gift. It is an asset for a family—something they can raise, breed, and use to help create income for future needs.

A healthy cow will cost approximately $800–$1,000, depending on its age and size.

So we’re asking our Freedom House family to help us send him home with a little more security for his future.

Our goal: $1,000 for one cow.

Whether you give $10, $25, $50, or help us cover the entire cow, every gift will help us give this young man and his family a stronger start in this next chapter.

We have loved him, cared for him and walked beside him for many years. Leaving Freedom House doesn’t mean we stop caring about what happens next. ❤️

Because of YOU, our Freedom House youth will be heading back to school for another year!

We recently asked for help with two big needs—school expenses and rent for our Transition House—and you showed up. Our rent has been fully covered, and more than $6,000 has been given toward tuition, trade schools, uniforms, books, and supplies!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who gave, shared, and prayed. Your generosity is giving our youth real opportunities for education, employment, and independence.

Our school expenses are not fully funded yet, and these costs will continue throughout the year. If you feel called to help, a one-time gift or becoming a monthly donor can make a lasting difference.

Sometimes it’s easy to look at the work we do at Freedom House and see the obvious things—a safe home, food, school, clothing, and people who love and care for our youth.

But the bigger picture is what all of those things are helping to prevent.

In a country where poverty, instability, violence, and lack of opportunity leave young people incredibly vulnerable, a safe and stable childhood can change the entire direction of a life.

Freedom House was created to give our youth another path.

A path where desperation doesn’t lead to trafficking or exploitation.
Where a young man doesn’t feel like joining a gang is his only way to survive or belong.
Where a young woman doesn’t have to turn to prostitution simply to eat or provide for herself.
Where education and opportunity can replace survival mode with hope for a future.

We have had many of these same youth in our care since 2014. We’ve watched them grow up, and now we’re walking beside them as they transition into adulthood—helping them finish school, learn trades, find work, and become independent.

This is why the work matters.

We can’t fix everything happening in Haiti. But we can change the trajectory of the lives entrusted to us—and hopefully, through them, help change the trajectory of the families and communities they will one day build.

Please pray for the people of Kenscoff, Haiti. 🇭🇹

Another horrific attack has taken innocent lives and brought unimaginable fear and heartbreak to a community already carrying so much.

It’s difficult to put into words how devastating it is to watch the people of Haiti—people who already face such tremendous hardship—continue to endure this kind of violence and loss.

Please pray for the families who are grieving, for those who are injured and afraid, for protection over the innocent, and for peace to come to Haiti.

They have endured more than any people should have to endure. Haiti needs our prayers.

UPDATE: NEED MET 🫶🏻

Every year, we try to bless the youth at Freedom House Haiti with one special day at the beach during their summer break. It’s a day they look forward to all year—a chance to laugh, swim, play games, enjoy a good meal, and simply make memories together.

This year, however, due to ongoing financial challenges, we don’t currently have the funds to make that day happen. The total cost is $400.
