Denial is a master at keeping us locked in the dark. In our hurts, habits, and hang-ups, we often build elaborate walls and turn off the lights, hoping that if we can’t see the mess, it isn’t there. This is why Principle 4 starts with an inventory.

Confession is not just telling God what happened; it’s finally daring to turn on the light ourselves. It’s sitting in that quiet, solitary space and admitting the raw truth to yourself before you ever say it out loud. That first spark of honesty, symbolized by this lone bulb in the darkness, is terrifying. But that light is also where the enemy loses his grip. If it's in the dark, it controls you. If it's in the light, you can begin to face it.

"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." — 1 John 1:5

Tonight, get alone with your inventory. Turn on a physical light. Agree with God that the darkness stops now.

Greater Love: A Devotional of RemembranceOn this day of remembrance, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, selflessness, and devotion to protecting our freedom reflect a profound truth about love and sacrifice. In Celebrate Recovery, we understand the heavy weight of grief, but we also understand the deep value of a life laid down for others.John 15:13 (NIV)"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."Those we honor today lived out this verse in the most literal sense. They gave up their tomorrows so that we could have our todays. As we reflect on their earthly sacrifice, we are also reminded of the ultimate spiritual freedom won for us on the cross by Jesus Christ, who broke the chains of our hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Guarding Your Peace TodayHolidays and days of deep reflection can bring up a mix of heavy emotions—grief, memories, or a sense of loneliness. In our recovery journey, we know that isolation is where the enemy likes to operate. We never have to carry the weight of our emotions alone. If today feels heavy, or if the long weekend introduces temptation or loneliness, pull out your phone and use your tools.Reach up: Spend time in prayer, handing your heart over to Jesus.Reach out: Connect directly with your sponsor and your accountability partners.A quick text or a phone call to check in keeps you securely grounded in community. Let's commit to protecting the freedom we’ve been given—both as citizens and as individuals walking the road to recovery.Let us pray:Father, today we remember and honor the courageous souls who gave their lives in service to our country. We ask for Your comfort to surround their families. Help us to never take our freedom for granted, and give us the strength to walk out our recovery with honesty and community today. Amen.

Reminder: There will be no Celebrate Recovery meeting Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day. As we spend time with family, rest, and remember those who gave their lives in service to our country, don’t forget recovery doesn’t take a holiday.

Take a few moments this weekend to check in with your sponsor or accountability partner. A simple text, call, or prayer together can make a big difference. Isolation is where struggles grow, but connection is where healing happens.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

We pray everyone has a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. We’ll see you all next week.
