Marysville-Peikang Sister City Association Inc.

Marysville-Peikang Sister City Association Inc., formed an Agreement of Sisterhood on March 14, 1986. MPSCA was incorporated in 1987. The two cities agreed to: “Foster peace, understanding, cooperation, and a common bond between Marysville and Peikang through exchanging cultural, art, history and educational ideas through Exhibits and Visits of citizens, teachers, and students to promote the two

nations' economic well-being. Since 1987, members have visited the respective cities several times. The most recent visit in 2006 was a group of eleven people from Marysville, including former Yuba County Supervisor John Nicoletti, Gordon Tom, Marysville Chinatown Historian, and noted anthropologist Dr. Paul Chace. The Marysville-Peikang Sister City Association regularly interacts with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco. As a result of this relationship, the Director General comes as a VIP to the Bok Kai Festival annually and in turn MPSCA goes to the Ten-Ten Celebration in the Bay Area present by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO). The Association has no paid staff and is supported primarily through membership dues and fundraisers. There are approximately 20 active members, made up of teachers, professors, representatives from historical and art groups, business leaders, elected officials, and members of the Chinese community in Marysville.
