An LGBTQ advocate was attacked in Sacramento's Lavender Heights, renewing safety concerns ahead of Rainbow Weekend. No arrests have been made.

September is Deaf Awareness Month, a time to celebrate Deaf culture, American Sign Language, community, identity, and the many ways Deaf people connect and communicate.

ASL is a complete language with its own grammar, structure, history, and cultural roots. culture also includes shared traditions, visual communication, storytelling, community spaces, and experiences shaped by language and access.
Deaf awareness also means recognizing the role communication access plays in everyday life. Workplaces, schools, healthcare providers, businesses, events, and public spaces all are participating in creating environments where Deaf people participate fully and communicate in the language and format that works for them.

For A Show of Hands, Deaf Awareness Month reflects the work at the center of our agency: supporting communication access through qualified ASL interpreting while respecting the language, culture, and people our profession serves.

Q***r, camp, and cult classic films for 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and allies 18&up
Doors open: 6:00pm
Movie begins: 6:15pm

"LET THE SUNSHINE IN!"
Upon receiving his draft notice and leaving his family ranch in Oklahoma, Claude heads to New York and befriends a group of long haired hippies on his way to boot camp.

Entry is FREE and refreshments are served. Discussion of the film may happen before or after the showing if time allows.
