Rise Up: Youth Program for the Performing Arts

Dear Rise Up Community,

We’ve received several messages asking about our summer camp plans, and we wanted to take a moment to share some important news with you.

After six incredible years of serving the Yuba-Sutter community through performing arts programs, Rise Up will be closing its doors and will no longer be offering summer programming.
This decision was not made lightly. Rise Up has been a labor of love from the very beginning — a way to make the arts more accessible, to give students a space to explore their creativity, and to bring families together around something joyful. Our recent musical theatre camps, especially, have been incredibly rewarding for our team. Seeing young performers grow in confidence, make new friends, and shine onstage has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives.

Over the past year, life has brought about some big changes for our team. Each of us has found ourselves beginning new adventures — both personally and professionally — that have made it harder to give Rise Up the time and energy it deserves. As much as we’ve tried to find a path forward, we’ve come to realize that it’s time to take a step back and close this chapter, with full hearts and deep gratitude for everyone who has supported us along the way.

We’re deeply grateful to every family, student, staff member, volunteer, and community supporter who has been part of Rise Up’s journey. Thank you for believing in our mission and for pouring your time, energy, and heart into creating meaningful experiences through the performing arts. From late night rehearsals to fun camp field days— and everything in between— the memories we’ve shared will stay with us always.

Though this chapter is ending, the spirit of Rise Up lives on in the creativity, passion and drive we’ve seen in our students. To our students— past and present— we are incredibly proud of you and are honored that we got to play a role in your performing arts journey. We hope that you continue to share your talents, support one another, and keep the love of theatre alive in this community.
If you’d like to share a favorite memory or message, we’d truly love to hear from you. On behalf of the entire Rise Up team, thank you for being part of this incredible journey. The past six years have meant the world to us — it’s been the experience of a lifetime.

Hello! We are so excited to announce the culminating performance for our 2024 Finding Nemo Summer Camp is tomorrow!

The performance will be held at the Yuba College Theater in Marysville on July 26, 2024. Doors open at 5:30pm. This performance will be the audience's one and only chance to witness this under the sea adventure live and in person.

We are so excited to announce our FREE musical theatre camp: Finding Nemo JR! This camp is open to all performers, ages 7-14 regardless of their experience onstage! The camp will be held at Riverside Meadows Intermediate in Plumas Lake, and the final performance will be held at the beautiful Yuba College Theater. There will be singing. There will be dancing. There will be camp counselors, camp activities, and all kinds of summer fun!

Thanks to the California Arts Council, an INCREDIBLE camp experience is returning once again to the Yuba Sutter community. The best part? There is absolutely NO COST for families! If you thought the Lion King Experience was great—prepared to be blown away!

We have exciting news…we applied for another grant from CAC, and got it! We will be able to offer ANOTHER free musical theatre camp. If you enjoyed The Lion King Experience, get ready…this one is going to be even better!

We are so excited to invite you to our Summer Arts Academy 2023 Performance- A Day at Disneyland! Our campers have been hard at work these past two weeks and can't wait to show you what they've been rehearsing for!

Admission to the show is FREE and we will have a concessions stand that benefits our future arts education programs in the Yuba-Sutter area! We will have Mickey Ice Cream Bars, Cookie Tree Cookies, and Ice Cold Beverages.

Doors open at 5:30pm and the show starts at 6 at Edgewater Elementary School- 5715 Oakwood Dr Marysville! You don't want to miss it!

We still have spots available for this year's Summer Arts Academy! If your child loves performing, we have the perfect camp for them. In our camp, kids learn how to sing, act, and dance all while participating in camp activities and making friends along the way. There will be singing, dancing, and s'more-making.

Kids LOVE the fun, hands-on classes and games at camp, parents LOVE the free breakfast and lunch and full camp days. We even feature a FREE performance for friends and family at the end of the camp. This year's theme is: A Day in Disneyland!
