If you're like most Michiganders, you're concerned about inflation, especially the rising costs of health care.
But state Democrats have an answer for you: drop dead – literally.
You see, they've just introduced legislation to bring “assisted su***de” to Michigan.
Democrats are calling House Bills 5825 through 5828 their “Death with Dignity Act.” It should be called “Death with Derangement.”
We need your help to make the voice of Michiganders clear to Lansing politicians: su***de is NOT health care.
We've already seen how this played out in Canada...
“Assisted su***de” was first legalized in 2016 for Canadians whose death was “reasonably foreseeable.” At the time, a person had to have a grievous and irremediable medical condition which caused enduring physical or psychological suffering to qualify for euthanasia. Think of someone with a terminal cancer prognosis.
In 2021 – just five years after legalization – “assisted su***de” was expanded to include those whose “death is not reasonably foreseeable.” With this expansion, people with disabilities or non-terminal illnesses (which is enormously permissive) could choose to have a doctor end their lives. Think of someone who is wheelchair bound.
The next expansion has already been passed into law. This will allow Canadians suffering solely from a mental illness to be eligible for euthanasia. Think of someone suffering from depression.
Since legalization, the number of “assisted su***de” deaths in Canada has steadily grown every year and showed little sign of slowing down. Between 2016 and 2023, over 60,000 Canadians have been euthanized, with over 15,000 in 2023 alone. Euthanasia now accounts for 4.7% of all deaths in the country, a rate second only to the Netherlands. Euthanasia is now the fifth most common cause of death in Canada.
Michigan Democrats evidently want to make “assisted su***de” a top cause of death in our State, too. If signed into law, the state's medical bureaucracy will have every financial incentive to recommend those consuming their expensive medical care just end it all.
That's why we need to contact them, right now, and make our opposition clear.
Tell your lawmakers: OPPOSE
legalizing “assisted su***de”!
And make no mistake: it's not just Democrats in the Michigan House of Representatives. A full majority of Senate Democrats – twelve out of twenty – sponsored the same legislation in 2023 (SB 678-681 of 2023).
This should come as no surprise, if you understand that the radical Left views human life itself as a disease upon our planet. This is why su***de, abortion, and mutilation are so important to them.
This is why we must say NO:
• Human life has inherent dignity. Every person—regardless of age, disability, illness, or perceived "quality of life"—possesses fundamental worth. Society's role is to care for the vulnerable, not offer them death as a solution. Legal assisted su***de sends the message that some lives are not worth living.
• The slippery slope is real. In places where assisted su***de has been legalized (such as the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, and parts of the U.S. like Oregon and California), eligibility has rapidly expanded beyond the terminally ill to include the elderly, disabled, mentally ill, and even those who are simply "tired of life." What begins as a "compassionate choice" for a few often becomes societal pressure on the many.
• It violates medical ethics. Physicians take an oath to "do no harm" and preserve life. Turning doctors into agents of death erodes trust in the medical profession and shifts focus away from healing, pain management, and genuine palliative care. Both the American Medical Association and the Michigan State Medical Society oppose legalizing physician-assisted su***de.
• Vulnerable people will be at risk. The elderly, disabled, poor, and those without strong family support are most susceptible to subtle coercion—from family burden concerns, financial pressures, or inadequate insurance coverage. Misdiagnoses happen; recoveries occur; new treatments emerge. We must not rush people toward death when hope and help still exist.
• Better alternatives exist. We should support palliative care, hospice services, mental health support, and pain relief innovations. True compassion means walking with people through suffering, not ending their lives prematurely.
Legalizing assisted su***de devalues the lives of millions who live with disabilities or chronic conditions every day. It pressures doctors, insurers, and families to view death as a cost-saving or convenient option rather than a last resort.
Demand that our elected officials uphold the prohibition on intentionally ending human life.

P.S. There is nothing dignified about committing su***de with the help of your medical provider. We need real solutions to aid the sick, disabled, and vulnerable.
Please fill out the form and urge your legislators to reject H.B. 5825, 5826, 5827 & 5828 and vote NO on assisted su***de and the so-called “Death with Dignity Act.”
