Starting this Monday, August 31, 2026, at 12:01 a.m. Stage 1 Fire Restrictions (Order #04-26-10) will be in effect for the entire Fishlake National Forest through October 31, 2026, unless rescinded.
Here’s a quick overview of what is allowed—and what isn’t—during Stage 1 Fire Restrictions.
What you CAN’T do in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions:
• No open fires at dispersed or undeveloped sites OR outside Forest Service metal fire rings.
• No charcoal/briquette grills in dispersed or undeveloped sites.
• No smoking in an open area that is not barren or uncleared of all flammable material within a 10-foot diameter.
• No torches, welders or grinders used without a pressurized chemical fire extinguisher (8 oz., Class 2A) in areas with flammable material within a 10-foot diameter.
What you CAN do in Stage 1 Fire Restrictions:
• Campfires must be in Forest Service provided metal fire rings at developed campgrounds & picnic areas.
• Gas or liquid-fuel stoves or grills with on/off switch may be used within a 10-foot diameter cleared area.
• Smoking within an enclosed vehicle or building or in an open, developed recreation site.
• Fully enclosed metal stoves with a 5-foot chimney and spark screen may be used within a 10-foot diameter cleared area.
• Torches, welders, and grinders may be used within a 10-foot diameter cleared area. A pressurized chemical fire extinguisher (8 oz., Class 2A) is required.
