As Missouri voters prepare for the November 3 general election, MAAE and Missouri Citizens for the Arts are sharing the results of a collaborative research survey. 📝

Candidates who won their Missouri primary elections were invited to respond to questions about their attitudes toward the arts and arts education. The results give voters an opportunity to review their responses and learn more before casting their ballots.

💡You can get a sample ballot from your local election authority that has both your local and state elections listed! In most cases a sample ballots can also be found on your local election authorities website or through local news outlets.

Proposition A - Congressional Map Referendum

✅ A “YES” VOTE
Will approve the act of the General Assembly entitled “House Bill No. 1 (2025 Extraordinary Session),” which redraws the congressional district boundaries.

❎A “NO” VOTE
Will leave in place the congressional district boundaries enacted in 2022.

From our friends at Missouri Art Education Association!

Recently MAEA's Youth Art Month Chair, Amy Rushing, and President Elect, Elizabeth Barker, met with Governor Mike Kehoe and his wife Claudia. MAEA was present the couple with two works of student art from last March's YAM Show which will now hand in the Governor's Mansion. They also presented framed Michael Albert collages for the Governor and Lieutenant Governor, including the map of Missouri made by MAEA members at their spring conference.

Amendment 8 - Require Election of County Sheriffs

✅A “YES” VOTE
Amend the Missouri Constitution to require counties to: elect a sheriff every four years, which is currently required by statute; place in the Constitution provisions regarding sheriffs’ duties that are currently provided by statute; and provide that an elected sheriff may be removed from office only through a writ of quo warranto initiated by the Attorney General.

❎A “NO” VOTE
Will not amend the Missouri Constitution. Current Missouri statutes providing for the election of county sheriffs to four-year terms and governing their duties and removal will remain in effect unless changed by law.

Amendment 7 - Creation of Show-Me Prosperity Investment Fund for State Tax Reduction and Elimination

✅A “YES” VOTE
Would create the permanent “Show-Me Prosperity Fund,” using investment earnings to help eliminate state-imposed taxes while protecting the fund’s principal. Withdrawals would be limited to 3% of the fund’s average value over five years, and eliminated taxes could not be reinstated unless the fund became unable to meet its obligations, such as through insolvency or revenue shortfalls.

❎A “NO” VOTE
Will not amend the Missouri Constitution to establish a permanent public endowment fund to support state government with the goal of eliminating state-imposed taxes.

Dance gives students a way to think, communicate, and express themselves through movement.

Students learn to take creative risks, respond to music, work with others, and communicate ideas that may not be easy to put into words. They develop strength and discipline, but they also develop confidence, awareness, and a deeper understanding of how the body can tell a story.

Dance education reminds us that learning can happen through motion, rhythm, expression, and connection.

This National Arts and Humanities Month, we’re celebrating the dance educators who help students move toward new possibilities.
