Arthur Lee Jimmerson (August 4, 1963 – May 8, 2024)
Was an American boxer and mixed martial artist, beloved father, grandfather, brother and loving friend
Arthur was a resident of University City, Missouri and was educated in the University City School system. A 1981 graduate.
Arthur embarked on his boxing journey at the age of 15, achieving impressive amateur feats including a 125-14 record, #2 national middleweight ranking, 1983 National Golden Gloves Championship, and victories for the U.S. team in international competitions against Soviet and German teams.
Arthur was a pioneer and made history in 1993 when his crowning achievement came with participating in the very first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He proudly represented boxing and left a lasting impact by wearing one glove and earning him the nickname of Art "One Glove".
Arthur established residency in Los Angeles, California. He was the head boxing box coach at the UFC Gym in Torrance, CA and later in his career he was a personal trainer and boxing instructor and a “tour guide” and inspiring others to unleash their inner strength and live life to its fullest.
Arthur will be affectionately remembered from his favorite quote “God Got Me”. Please keep Arthur’s family and loved ones in your prayers.
• Visitation and Viewing Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 8:00am to 9:30am at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 5515 Dr. Martin Luther King Dr, St. Louis, Missouri 63112, Bishop Michael Jones
• Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00am
• Join the family in the procession to the cemetery and reception upon returning to the church
