Exciting news! Our Cameroon Literacy Initiative (CLI) official launch event was a success thanks to the amazing speakers who shared their inspiring stories with us.

Belinda, an engineer, discussed "Becoming an Engineer: The Process, the Journey, and the Experience" while Doctor Ngim shared her personal story and spoke about identifying your passion for a profession. Finally, Doctor Armstrong discussed his journey to becoming a medical doctor and the challenges he faced along the way.

We are grateful to our speakers and to Growth for All, the NGO who partnered with us to make this event possible.

Our goal is to improve literacy and empower students in Cameroon, and with the support of our community, we believe we can make a positive impact.

📚🌍 Announcing the Launch of the Cameroon Literacy Initiative! 🌍📚

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Cameroon Literacy Initiative (CLI), a branch of the International Coalition for Global Literacy. CLI is a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve literacy rates in Cameroon through community-driven programs focused on
*mentorship,
*library-building efforts,
*community learning centers, and
*youth empowerment.

In Cameroon, low literacy rates remain a pressing concern, particularly among rural populations, girls, and marginalized communities. CLI aims to address these challenges through innovative solutions that are tailored to the unique needs of the communities it serves.

CLI's comprehensive approach encompasses four key programmatic pillars: mentorship, library building efforts, community learning centers, and youth empowerment. By focusing on these pillars, CLI is able to provide ongoing support and guidance to students, increase access to quality learning materials and resources, and engage young people in leadership development, capacity building, and advocacy initiatives.

As I sit here scrolling through my Facebook feed, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with emotions. It breaks my heart to see the current state of affairs in Cameroon. Thousands of innocent people have been forced to flee their homes due to the ongoing conflicts across the nation. It's times like this that remind me of the importance of education and literacy rates, especially in Africa.

Education is the foundation of any society. It empowers individuals, communities, and nations. It opens doors to new opportunities and enables individuals to make informed decisions. However, in Cameroon, and many parts of Africa, the literacy rate is shockingly low. It's time for us to take action and work towards improving the literacy rates in our communities.

Education is a basic human right, and everyone deserves access to it. In times of conflict and crisis, it is even more critical to ensure that children are not deprived of their education. We need to work together to provide access to education to those who are displaced and affected by conflict.

It's not just about providing access to education; we need to ensure that the quality of education is also improved. We need to invest in training and equipping our teachers with the necessary skills and resources to provide quality education. It's only when we invest in education that we can break the cycle of poverty and promote sustainable development.

Let's not wait for someone else to take action. Let's be the change we want to see in the world. Let's work towards promoting literacy rates in Cameroon and Africa. Every child deserves access to education, and it's up to us to make it happen.

SMART AND GREEN CAMEROON- CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Smart and Green Cameroon is a nongovernmental organization that focuses on empowering Cameroonian youths of all social classes by invoking the creative ability in them through our diverse leadership innovative programs and providing everyone of them with the necessary tools and resources they will need to live the lives of their dreams.

Smart and Green has been looking at the study conditions of evening school students for two years now, conducted a survey between 80 students with the primary objective of identifying the problems they face both at home and in school. The results of the survey were heart breaking and we decided to focus our attention and resources on these students. The survey was carried out in two of such evening schools both found in Biyem Assi and these schools will be our stating point for activities for this season. We have three major projects we have in mind for these students, which are; providing them with mentors who will have the responsibility of building them up academically, professionally and morally. We equally want to put trained teachers at their disposal who will focus on helping them for the national exams. And finally organize capacity building, and training workshops at fixed intervals.

We are currently seeking 25 volunteers of all age groups who are passionate towards humanity and a notable desire for community growth and development. Of the 20 volunteers, we will need 15 who desire to act as mentors to hold the hands of these downtrodden children and walk them up the rungs of life. 10 of the 25 will volunteer as teachers who will take at least two hours of classes per week with the examination classes. Our desire is to make these children find safety, hope and success in life. We need you!
