Our mission is to provide evidence based prevention, education, and advocacy in Morgan County in the areas of substance misuse, human trafficking, su***de prevention, and mental wellness. The Morgan County Substance Abuse Council (MCSAC) was established in 1983 to be the Local Coordinating Council (LCC) for the Governor's Commission for a Drug Free Indiana. We are a passionate and dedicated coalit
ion who want to help Morgan County residents reach their full potential. We hold monthly Community Conversations where community members work together to implement solutions to the issues faced by the county. Our community partners are comprised of concerned parents, public health care workers, law enforcement, educators, business owners, social service organizations and county officials all working toward affecting positive change in our community concerning substance abuse and related concerns. Each year we develop a Comprehensive Community Plan (CCP) to prevent and reduce substance abuse in Morgan County. Funding is awarded annually to community organizations from fees collected on DUI’s and drug possession charges. These fees are used in support of prevention, treatment and law enforcement programs for our county. In addition to being the LCC for the county we also work directly with individuals and organizations. MCSAC recognizes that substance misuse overlaps many areas of concern. To address issues such as mental and emotional wellness, su***de, and human trafficking, MCSAC offers education and resources to Morgan County residents throughout the year. This is part of our desire to see positive change happen within our community. We offer programs such as Botvin LifeSkills, Positive Action and Success Over Stress.
