**Winter Storm Watches issued for several inches of snow plus freezing rain**

Springfield: 4-7
Quincy: 4-7
Saint Louis: 2-6
Macomb: 2-4
Effingham: 3-6
Champaign: 3-6

Several inches of snow plus freezing rain accumulation has prompted the NWS to issue a Winter Storm Watch for Central Illinois.

Right now 3-7" is likely south of I-74 to I-70, with 1-3" from I-74 to I-80. An inch is expected south of I-70, along with up to a couple tenths of an inch of ice. Ice is possible as far north as Springfield.

Snow will begin along I-70 around noon Sunday, I-72 around 3-4PM, and I-74 by 8PM. Snow will fall all night Sunday, with freezing rain around I-70. Snow may briefly pause Monday morning, but will pick up again by mid morning and last into the evening. This is a prolonged event.

While 3-7" is expected, local 8" amounts are possible wherever banding occurs. We may need to add a 6-9" region once we have better confidence.

Expect moderate to high travel impacts Sunday night and Monday. Roads will be slick and snow covered. Monitor for updates this evening.
